DICE has asked players who receive the dreaded CE-34878-0 crash when playing Battlefield 4 on PlayStation 4 to spend a few minutes writing out a report for the developer to help them locate the root of the problems.
While the PS4's CE-34878-0 crash has become linked with Battlefield 4 since the console launched, the code is actually a general error message on the console. When the game crashes with this error message, the console asks players if they want to submit a crash report--and DICE says it reads every one submitted.
"We know that players on PS4 can get the 'CE-34878-0 crash' error message. This is in fact a general error code that you can receive when the game has crashed for a number of different reasons that are not related," wrote DICE's Tommy Rydling on the game's forums.
"You can help us to identify these individual issues by providing a few details in the crash report (we read all of them.) For example what game mode you were playing and on what map you crashed. Doing this will help us a lot to reproduce the issues and investigate fixes for them in upcoming patches."
DICE released a Battlefield 4 patch earlier this week that the developer said would eliminate a "large amount" of crashes.
