Diablo III's 'specifically tuned' console version playable at PAX East

Blizzard showing off the PlayStation 3 version of Diablo III this weekend.

The PlayStation 3 version of Diablo III will be on show at PAX East, Blizzard has announced.

Blizzard says the single-player Diablo III demo will show the PlayStation 3 version's "reimagined interface and inventory system, direct character control, updated camera, and bosses and monsters specifically tuned for console."

The demo will be set in Act III of the game's campaign and will feature the Barbarian and Demon Hunter classes.

Blizzard announced Diablo III for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in February, confirming that the game would feature four-player co-op and wouldn't require an always-on Internet connection.

Diablo III will be available in booth #1036 of the Expo Hall at PAX East this weekend.

"wouldn't require an always online connection", Blizzard has already made more of an effort to please console gamers than they did for pc gamers. The game will be better. What I never cared about D3 (besides the RMAH) was the graphics engine. If they were to change that engine and just make the graphics realistic looking, than the game would be way better.

Way to many bash games on the internet. If you check comments on any game, you'll find an insane amount. Just note these people mock games rather than play games.. Divas and trolls, divas and trolls.

Really who gives a damn about a fail game

Who cares? And the devil has come down to the consoles now.

Are there really people who still want to play this travesty but haven't yet?

Be really careful of buying this game. My friend's D3 account has been banned for no reason. They say that he has been using hack program or his account has been compromised. But the fact is, when I login to my account and see his stat, it says that he has been offline for 180 days. The banned was just 2 days ago.

This company is so greedy that they don't care for their loyal customer anymore. They don't really care if we buy their games. We never own the game, and we are nothing to them. I say that blizz is really going down if they continue doing this.

How clever of you.  You keep believing your speculation is reality.  The rest of us will wait for the real result and decide if we want to blindly give Blizzard $70 MORE Dollars for more of the same dog, with different fleas.

Game sucks. But at least console versions will have the best controls vs stupid mouse to move.

meh, the main version sucked so its a safe guess that this will suck too.

If I could give anyone some advice and hope people took it, it would be to avoid this game. D3 was ok for the first few hours but it got old fast... I'd be surprised if I had died playing through easy-hard modes, which you HAVE to play through, then inferno was just a gear check... I never really felt like I was the reason why I lived or died in inferno, just got lucky with some dice rolls when it came to getting loot.

If you do buy it, I hope you like it, but I would warn against it.

i tried the demo on pc and enjoyed it.   i used xpadder and it works really well with the joypad.   brought back fond memories of champions of norrath and dark alliance.  i hope they put the ps3 demo on psn so we can give it a try.

I seem to be in the minority apparently, but I enjoyed D3. Was it as deep and fulfilling as D2 was at the time of release? No. Did it show signs that it was under development waaaaaaay too long? lol Yes. But it was fun, I've put more hours into D3 than any other game released over the last year, XCOM was a close second, but D3 is a fun game. Hopefully Blizzard continues to support it and makes changes to increase its longevity. Now the masses can proceed to berate me for my opinion lol

I dont understand why these developer dont just say keyboard and mouse required

and ship a version with them included

Typical Blizzard milking a game for all it's worth.

This was actually the biggest disappointment in gaming I've had. How do you follow such a classic such as Diablo 2 (and the excellently done LoD expansion) with a generic, DRM-riddled, cop-out cliche story like the one in D3.

It was boring and predictable. I can only imagine the millions Blizzard made on it, and will make on it when it is released on consoles. They sold 12 million copies for PC? at $60 a game that's just ridiculous. Games that are this bad shouldn't do as well as they do.

no always online requirement? Wow that would have been great for the PC version.

don't expect this would be good for console vers. blizzard is hell in marketing, tasting players, to have a good sale. i never play diablo since they remove the opportunity to play offline w/o internet connection, its like renting game, all through you pay for it

I've never understood why Diablo 2 was never ported. The original was pretty good and very close to the PC experience (gameplay-wise) on PS1.

@TheWatcher000 News flash, this move by Blizzard is targeted at console users in an effort to introduce new players to the Diablo universe. Whether or not you buy the product after buying the PC version is not a concern of theirs, so save your threats, the fact that you are even considering it is just a bonus to them

@Blizzard_suck It's funny that you actually created that account right now to bash Activision Blizzard. It's the DRM right? I hate that damn feature.

@djb1203  of course the demo is always be good, and fun, how you will be curious if demo  play like shit.

@bdiddytampa You Are right and the game does not suck as many people say... I spent 400hs+ on it 100hs playing as HARDCORE. I dont care about AH and hate it although it is mandatory for survival since the drop can be chosen instead of found by your own luck... I'm a old school player and from the perspective since Diablo 1 and all Hack& Slash I've played D3 has the better combat and so inovate on the skill system... I'd prefer TL2 or  maybe Path of Exile to saciate may nostaugic feel... but since Titans Quest innovative system, I accepted the changes they made on D3.

D3 could have been better for sure, if they kept the ACT1 feel it would be nice... but overaal its a great game... that well deserved an 8.o metacritics score.  No one have to complain about it, just dont play it if you dont like there are a lot of options.

I play D3 to relax rarelly went into AH play for fun with RL friends and its good to go... cant w8 to see the expansion and try the console version with a joypad... maybe it will drop better itens since it seems AH or DRM will not been implemented on console..

@bdiddytampa I agree it's definitely not a bad game. It's a great game, albeit with a simplified skill system, hindered by a horrible always-online scheme. I really hope that in time, with the PS3 getting an offline mode they will consider giving us PC users an offline mode as well so I can play without having to worry about lag and/or connection issues.

@bdiddytampa The reason i played diablo 3 a lot is because of how fun combat is, it is just so addictive.

Thumbler76

@bdiddytampa I agree with you even if I've never been a diablo fan. But I must say that d3 is not a game, it is a "big-brother"-ed software that pretends to tell you when and how you can use it.

@Tripwolf Nah, console gamers will love this, assuming they never played Diablo 2, D3 is the call of duty of dungeon crawlers

@Ayato_Kamina_1 While I was initially excited of it's announcement. Activision Blizzard's move for always online really turned me off for most of it's current games. Which is sadly, two of it's mainstream titles. After which any supposed interest for their current game is gone until they actual do something about their always online policy.

This announcement was actually a surprise and unexpected at this time. To be fair, it's not the first time they ported their games for consoles. (Ex: Diablo 1 and Warcraft 2). Still, I have yet to find, see or even hear anything that could make them get me back to their titles.

aots_twilight

@Mojira7 That always online feature is just an excuse to monitor your game. Pirates had managed to bypass that in a few days or months. It just hurts the actual consumers. It's also an excuse for them to use that Auction House.

@starchsr Wow, you and I must have a very different experience with it then. I remember it being clunky and not very optimised. I mean if you hadn't played the PC version it was a serviceable game, but just awkward to move around.

@NTenseify News Flash, cupcake. Choosing to remain cautiously objective about the quality of a product and waiting to actually see the result and judge whether it is worth a purchase is called being a SENSIBLE, REASONABLE, and OBJECTIVE Gamer, especially after seeing the Result of 10 years of PR, Promising and Marketing that resulted in....That.  Learn the difference been threats and objectivity before you open your mouth and remove all doubt next time.

Now, by all means, do continue to demonstrate your PR Skills for us.  It's fascinating.  :)

@evil-zodiark @djb1203 lol yup!  some of my fave ps games,  i love the hack n slash looting genre.  had them all.... dark alliaince, champions of norrath.. dungeon siege 3... could never get into the original BG.

djb1203
djb1203

@Blizzard_suck @djb1203  it was the first 13 levels so the same gameplay as the full game.    not all demo's are good, ive played plenty of shite ones that have put me off buying the full game.   it showed enough promise that i considered buying it.  i would of bought it by now if it was closer to the £20 mark.

starchsr

@Ayato_Kamina_1 @starchsr Maybe so. I haven't played it in like 10 years or so but I have a positive impression of the PS1 version. I remember there were ridiculous loading times though.

TheWatcher000

@NTenseify @TheWatcher000 If you actually had any knowledge of whether I actually purchased D3, you might actually have a point, instead of making assumptions, and ending up having both feet in your mouth.  How do they taste by the way?

I had the chance to spend time with the game through a friend who made a day 1 Purchase.  When I had a chance to observe what a trainwreck the whole thing was, I didn't waste my time or money.  Granted, because of Server Issues I had a limited experience, but it was enough.

I was already against making a day 1 purchase because of the DRM and the RMAH, and I wanted a chance to try the game first before spending money on it.  Luckily, I had the chance.

Now, if you are done, we have some Lovely Parting Gifts for you.  :)

NTenseify
NTenseify

@TheWatcher000 @NTenseify If you were such a sensible, reasonable and objective gamer you would've waited to see the result of Diablo 3 and then decided if it is worth purchasing, instead of depending on the success of Diablo 2, thus saving you the disappointment and butthurt you are currently experiencing. Yea kind of ate your own words there...

@djb1203 @evil-zodiark I personally Enjoyed Dark Alliance 1 and 2,  They were very simplistic for sure, but there is nothing wrong with that.  If something is enjoyable, it is.

It's a shame you could never get into the Original Baldur's Gate.  People have different tastes, and I understand that.  Maybe you could revisit it sometime.

I also recommend Planescape: Torment.  One of the Best RPG's of  All Time.  :)
