Diablo III Singapore launch held at Funan IT Mall

Retail price revealed for standard edition in Singapore, Malaysia.

Update: GameSpot Asia has added the prices for the collector's edition of the game.

With action role-playing game Diablo III's release date announced, there hasn't been any word in Southeast Asia regarding a launch or local retail price. That changed this week, with Blizzard's recent distributing partner Asiasoft announcing that it will be hosting a launch party to celebrate the game's arrival on May 15 in Funan IT Mall, Singapore.

According to Asiasoft's official page for the action RPG, the company announced that the standard version of Diablo III will be sold in Singapore for S$89 ($71) and in Malaysia for RM218 ($71). The collector's edition will cost S$158 ($128) and RM388 ($128) for their respective countries.

Gamers in Malaysia and Singapore can rejoice publicly at the Funan IT Mall.

For Singapore, the game will be on sale in stores such as Gamescore, and various Comic Connection and Funz Centre outlets. In Malaysia, the game will be on sale across Selangor, the Klang Valley, Penang, Kedah, Perak, Sabah, and Seremban. Local gamers can still preorder the game from these locations. For the full list of specific retailers in Singapore and Malaysia, visit Asiasoft's page.

The distributor has yet to mention whether the collector's edition will be locally distributed in the Southeast Asia region. Diablo III is the first title in the series since 2001's Diablo II: Lord of Destruction. The latest game features five distinctive character classes and a new auction house system touted as "a new way for [Blizzard] to pull revenues from the game."

@arijit_unreal it's because blizzard is damn bloody sure millions of people still gonna buy this. Why not jack up $10 from any other games on the market and makes $100 millions more profit.

hm .... its kinda on the pricey side ....considering the popularity of the series, I don't understand why is the standard edition it so costy.

The game is $59. You can pre order it. Why is there confusion about this? The beta is super boring so I'm guessing the final product will follow suit. Enjoy clicking things and replacing gear slots.

$71 is nothing. The game costs around 83 USD in Australia and over 90 USD in New Zealand. Standard edition of course.

A few years ago, highest price was $29,99. 1 year later they raised it to $39,99. After then $49,99 $59,99 $69,99 ... crazy my income not raising hell like this. I stopped pre-ordering long ago, Last few months I rarely bought games when they just released. Soon I will wait any game's price drops down %25 of original price or lower as it goes garbage.

@TheDarkNut: Datablitz is already preordering the standard version until May 14. I asked them if they will preorder the CE but they said no. So I guess if we want to get CE, we'll have to order internationally.
