Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls 2.0.4 patch released, makes major changes to most classes

Major Diablo 3 patch makes changes to most classes, including the Wizard's frozen orb, and makes crafting easier.

Blizzard has rolled out the major 2.0.4 patch for Diablo III and its recent expansion Reaper of Souls, and it's a major update for the recently released RPG.

All classes, with the exception of the Monk, have received tweaks to their skills and abilities, with the new Crusader class the most affected--plenty of their skills have been modified. The Wizard's frozen orb has also seen a slight nerf, which will probably frustrate the 99 percent of Wizards who all seemed to rely on that skill almost exclusively.

Another major change is that legendary crafting materials will now drop far more frequently. Also, level 60-70 rares won't need death's breath to craft, and level 70 craftable items won't require flawless royal gems.

Blizzard also adds that resplendent chests will now be a little more resplendent in what loot they dish out.

The 2.0.4 patch also stops boss monster Manglemaw from dishing out swathes of XP after farming the creature over and over and over and over again became a popular strategy.

Blizzard recently revealed that Reaper of Souls sold 2.7m copies in its first week.

Full 2.0.4 patch notes can be read on Blizzard's site, or from the Battle.net application while the patch is being downloaded. Time to log on and see if your favourite build still holds up.

When grouping with 3-4 friends at the same level all playing at the same time- how has it been. Any lag or drops, both regular d3 and expansion especially during peak hours?

This expansion breathed new life into D3 for me.

Loving the game all over again.

I rock a Wizard with Frozen Orb / Electrocute and they pretty much put a nerf on each of those and the passives I was using.  Now, other same-level classes who aren't Wizards and killing 2-4 enemies for every 1 I can kill, and I'm going insane hearing "I need more Arcane". The build now uses an unsustainable amount of Arcane and cannot regenerate it anymore.

Am attempting to find a different build, but I'm not finding anything respectable just yet. Has really made me not want to play, TBH.

Wouldn't call these major changes. Didn't affect my DH at all.

"Major Diablo 3 patch makes changes to most classes, including the Wizard's frozen orb, and makes crating easier."

That's definitely an interesting feature for a RPG game

@danjammer69  Me too sorta ... I started a new character, hardcore, and played a while. I might keep going.

But the game still needs some item taming — powerful regen + heal per hit rings drop too frequently. The game is bolted on the same old plot. /They need to create a wide, plotless game so you arent playing the same tired story over again.

For the moment .. it is fun. Last time I played was a yea ago, so it is kinda fresh again.

@aegis_kleais Noticed that myself I install D3 again after a month from launch as I got pretty bored of it and went back to D2/LOD since I have reinstalled D3 I noticed the damage to my Wizard is high and I am healing more and arcane usage is bad too and I am only level 19 with basic early level skills and add ons.

I am finding it hard to get gold too selling items for gold is crap as I only get 100-500 that's it but it's not frequent enough in D2 you got loads of gold I thought

@vadagar1 It's an extremely useful skill in the RPG genre - moving crates, standing on crates, destroying crates, making crates, decorating crates.  It takes a Master Crateman to truly get to grips with this long-standing tradition.

@noandno  haaaaa.... oh how embarrassing :(

But, let's be honest, if you could throw crates and squash demons to death that would be pretty sweet.

@Warlord_Irochi @Dickyslamm  Pretty major for me! I've been playing as the Crusader for most of the past couple of weeks and my main Wizard used both Frozen Orb and Electrocute. Admittedly if you're rocking a Monk then, yes, it's not a major change.

But I would say in the grand scale of the game as a whole, with all those balance changes, that it's pretty huge!

@martingaston @AnigmarNon stop posting, what else?
BTW you might want to add the patch created a lag in the mouse which currently can only be fixed by setting font size to 100%. Weird bug.
