Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut coming to 360, PS3, and PC

Director's Cut of Deus Ex: Human Revolution changes the game's controversial boss battles, among other fixes and updates.

by

Square Enix has confirmed to GameSpot that the upcoming Director's Cut for Deus Ex: Human Revolution will be coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC alongside the previously announced Wii U version.

Eidos Montreal's Jean Francois Dugas revealed that the Director's Cut was going multiplatform on GameSpot's E3 2013 Live Show.

No additional information was given, nor did Square Enix confirm whether the Director's Cut would be released separately as DLC for current owners of Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

The Director's Cut for Deus Ex: Human Revolution includes the Tong's Rescue mission and Missing Link downloadable content, alongside "overhauled" boss battles, "redefined" game balance and combat, "improved" artificial intelligence, and updated graphics.

Am I the only person who would actually be willing to pay for this without complaint despite already owning the game? It's not that I have a huge amount of money to throw around, but it sounds like they've put a decent amount of work into vastly improving the game in response to the most common complaints. I loved the game, I've played through it multiple times, and I'm extremely excited that this is going to be released for all systems. If it delivers everything they're claiming it will, I'm perfectly willing to shell out money for their hard work.

Man, I can't wait for this for PC. I've been having an itch to play this again since it's been 2 years since I've played it now. I hope they 'change' Missing Link as far as letting you import your Adam instead of having to 'rebuy' all the skills since it's too short to 'pimp' out your 'Adam' or if they slice it seemlessly into the game chronologically.

The DX11 graphics still hold up today and I can only imagine how much better they're going to look. Also I don't get all the Boss Battle hate. I understand where ppl are coming from w/ that argument, but I still had plenty of tense moments running and gunning those battles. I wonder how those are going to be overhauled. Also how do you 'redefine' the game balance and combat and even AI? It was as perfect and fluid as you can get on PC w/ K/M.

Reading all the DC changes makes me wish more studios would go back and give this treatment to their great games of yesteryear.

Does this have a third-person mode? Or a fully first-person mode? I hated the view switches on vanilla.

Hmm, they're going to have to reduce texture and shading quality to get it on PS3 & 360, unless they just use the same assets from the original console release.

So what's the release date? Because I've been wanting to go through this beauty again, but if there's a "new" experience available, I'd rather do that.

I really liked the storyline for deus Ex: Human Revolutiot for PC but the gameplay and graphics really sucked in my opinions.

This is my chance for playing a game I didn't get to play 3 years ago. Awesome! And with improved graphics too.

this better be free for those who already own DeusExHR

really, the only complaint I had with the game was that only the first battery would regenerate and the only way to recover others was with items.

"Updated graphics" I assume only applies to Wii U unless otherwise hm...

Originally, didn't they say this would be a Wii U exclusive?  Well, I'm super happy they changed their mind on that, and that it's coming to PC.

Well I am happy to hear this news, I finished DXHR on xbox 360 but now I am moving to ps3 and repurchasing all the games again to build up my collection, a director's cut version retail game would be awesome.

With this and Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV also going multiplatform, I'm thinking Square Enix might just desperately need to make some more money.

As for the Director's Cut no longer being Wii U exclusive.... That's fine. It's not like anyone would have bought a Wii U for an enhanced version of a two year old game. I'll still probably pick up the Wii U version anyway. I mean, this Director's Cut is pretty much great for people like myself who never bothered to play the game originally when it was released.

Had this been made by RED, it'd be available as a free update.

Question is will they upgrade current owners versions of the game for free, you know like how CD Projeckt Red did when they brought out the witcher 2 enhanced edition. I loved the original Deus Ex: Human Revolution but it did have its problems and it would be a nice gesture to those of us who were fans of the game from the beginning.

A director's cut is a nice gesture and introduction towards people who still haven't played the game, but it would have been much nicer if the developers gave the fans of the series a brand new sequel.

I found nothing wrong with the original one. actually I started playing it again couple days ago, for the 6th time... maybe that's one of the problems haha

YES! I love all the people who complain. You don't have to play it. I for one would love to play it again fully improved.

I think if Eidos Montreal was working on a new Deus Ex, it would probably run on a next-gen engine anyway so don't expect nothing before 2015.

Is this a free update for the PC? I may play through it again, the boss fights were terrible if you played as a stealth character.

This better be a free upgrade for those who already own it. If it costs money, Square-Enix can kiss my ass.

The "updated graphics" part intrigues me. I love this game but felt that even at launch, the graphics didn't do the game justice. I hope it resembles something alongside the Wii U port.

If this would have said PS5 and Xbox Two I would have been interested.

If Sqaure Enix makes this a free update for those of us who already have game, I'll forgive them for Deus Ex: The Fall. When CD Projekt released The Witcher: Enhanced Edition for the Xbox 360, they actually took all of the extra content from that version and patched it into the PC version and still adding even more content to this day. So please Square, be a good sport and give us these goodies free of charge.

Well so much for the Wii U.

@Cappuccin0 I'm pretty sure it will snap into 3rd person when you stick to cover while sneaking only.  There wasn't a button dedicated to toggling it.

@GameBeaten They desperately need to make some money. They have had an economic breakdown the past few years, thanks to FFXIV and partially FFXIII's successor.

@Trickymaster What a stupid fucking comment. These complaints are legitimate. They aren't making a new game. They are PATCHING an existing game! Clearly people don't want to pay for a patch to a game that game out two years ago.

SlawekAB

@wyan_ by saying Xbox Two you mean Xbox 360 since 360 really is Two M$ is going down in this generation you'll see, the price , the DRM issues they brought this on themselves

analogjunkie24

@wyan_ Xbox Two? Your not implying that Microsoft will actually survive the console race, are you?

Deadly_Nemesis

They re-tooled the boss fights to be closer to traditional Deus Ex standards and added some things here and there.

@pound-u @Trickymaster If this is a huge patch for the game I might just finish it this time around. I thought the original release was a bit of a mess, so I'm hoping for big changes here, especially with the AI and those retarted boss battles.

NTM23
NTM23

@CriticalCritic Yes, but my point is that it looked interesting on the Wii U, and it still does, but now, all that stands between the Wii U and the other versions is the Wii U controller, which may not be enough. I was looking forward to an additional game that'd make me want a Wii U,  but now it's lessened. I'll still get a Wii U at some point, but now Deus Ex may be out since I can just get it on the other consoles. Perhaps if I have a Wii U by then though, maybe I'll get it on there.

@Cappuccin0 While I don't mind the cover system for the most part, I think I would have preferred leaning instead, similar to what's used in Dark Athena.

scatterbrain007

@Cappuccin0 @scatterbrain007 Oh by your comment it seemed as if you never played the game.  I don't see them changing that at all. I'm not in the industry and I could be wrong but I doubt they would change that.  They REALLY should program the games to where we have a choice of either 3rd or 1st person.  Worked in Star Wars Battlefront.
