Deus Ex developer working on two unannounced titles

Eidos Montreal confirms it is working on two unannounced titles as it promotes former executive producer to studio head.

Eidos Montreal, the studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution and the upcoming Thief reboot, is working on two currently unannounced titles.

Square Enix also reports that David Anfossi, who worked on Deus Ex: Human Revolution as executive producer, has been promoted to Eidos Montreal's studio head. He will oversee the production of Thief, which is due out for current- and next-generation platforms in 2014, and the two unannounced games.

Eidos Montreal is also currently working on Deus Ex: The Fall for iOS, and a multiplatform release of the Deus Ex: Human Revolution Director's Cut alongside its Wii U debut later this year.

Anfossi will also work with Darrell Gallagher, newly appointed head of studios at Square Enix and former studio head at Tomb Raider developer Crystal Dynamics.

Square Enix is currently realigning its Western studios as part of a costly global restructuring process. Earlier this week, it was announced that IO Interactive has been reduced by half and will now concentrate solely on Hitman games.

Square Enix's Japanese studios are currently working on, among others, Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts III for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

All I care about is that it won't be any more mobile games b*llsh*t, all I care about are next gen AAA games from the titles I love like Deus Ex and Hitman!

I had a hard time with Revolution. The guy died at the drop of a hat. I thought he could take more abuse. But then again I 65 years old. Maybe it was just me. I don't think I'll be buying another one.

I think to every one here the new games are remakes of deus ex and invisible war, which would be cool.

3DS and PS-Vita?

Jokes aside, I REALLY hope these are some real full-scale PC titles...

eidos makes awesome games. always looking forward to anything they put out.

Even the newest hitman was just lame, linear, and bad, compared to say Hitman 1 and 2 where you were free to approach a target however you wanted.

Unless they're "Not our old good IP before Squeenix bought us 1" and "Not our old good IP before Squeenix bought and ruined us: ascension" I don't give a shit.

Eidos has released nothing good since and frankly the studio should just be dissolved. Deus Ex 1 and 2 were really good games, in an era when there weren't similar games. Deus Ex 3 was an absolute waste of time and money, with wonky graphics, wonky conrols, disinteresting hacking minigames, extremely dull combat, and virtually nothing cool. If they ever make anything like that again, they can count pretty much every older gamer I've ever known out. Not that they care, plenty of you kids will buy it.

Games I think they should be doing. Freedom Fighters 2. Game should be open world when you take bases and and change game for better.

A New Hitman Game since I like reboot vision what's 4 game and I don't know why people h8 it .

 A New Deus Ex game for next gen game explain how Jason met his brother and if that's go well maybe a remake.

 Maybe a Thief HD Collection or Deus EX HD Collection .

One of the games better be the next installment of Deus Ex that's not a freaking mobile game. -_-

It sure as hell better a full game, teasing a sequel to deus ex HR and then announcing a mobile game is a dumb move.

If it's more mobile shit you can shove it!

@Grenadeh I was so pumped for the new Hitman, but I also knew that there was a good chance it wouldn't be great.  But, I pre-ordered it anyway and let my hopes get up a little.

I like forced myself to play it here and there, but the last level I recall is that strip club.  It just wasn't interesting or exciting.

@PcGamingRig  No thanks. I for one am tired of sequels, prequels and all other -quells-.  Publishers need to stop boring us with the same rehash and give us something new. Dishonored was brand spanking new and now it has earned the right to make a sequel and/or prequel.

@PcGamingRig

I would hope only for main next-gen consoles and PC, not current. I would rather they focus on next-gen hardware than think about trying to make it work for current and next.

@pszone

Yes, Freedom Fighters. Open world could be cool, but I'm not sure about that. Freedom Fighters had an amazing soundtrack, a fantastic New York atmosphere (one of my favorite representations of New York), shooting mechanics were actually quite modern in some senses and friend and enemy A.I. were great. Absolutely amazing game. You know, it'd be cool if they remade Freedom Fighters first. I mean, I would mind that as long as it's great.

@SavoyPrime Agreed, I think we're all hoping for a lot more than an IPad game at least. Maybe they'll do a game that takes place after HR but before the original Deus Ex?

@hystavito @Grenadeh I guess entering a room, and finding in there you're target, the trap required to kill him, the distracted guard with the clothes you need and the closet to hide his body, all in 1 place, kinda makes it less appealing to be a hitman.

NTM23
NTM23

Wouldn't mind.

SavoyPrime

@robertcain It's hard to say at this point. But I would be totally cool with that. I can't lie though, I would be cool with an original Deus Ex remake/reboot as well.
