Oxford, UK-based Mode 7 Games has released its first title, the PC game Determinance. Determinance is a mouse-controlled swordfighting game with no preset moves, where the characters fly through clouds battling it out. It features five different modes, including an eight-player free-for-all where the last man standing wins, a duel arena for one-on-one battles, and a single-player mode with unlocklable bot deathmatches.

Mode 7's project and marketing manager Paul Taylor explains the development process behind the game: "Our intention was to make a deeply unusual niche debut title with its own weird aesthetic on a minimal budget."

Taylor says that the game has had reasonable sales so far and mainly good customer feedback, although "some gamers seem genuinely offended by it, mostly because the characters fly! It's faintly bizarre."

Determinance is priced at $19.95 and can be downloaded from the company's Web site.
