Destiny's next big update was announced today during the opening ceremony at PlayStation Experience. It's a holiday-themed update that also incorporates the return of the Sparrow Racing League event.

The Dawning, as it's called, kicks off on December 13 and runs until January 3. It introduces a new scoring system for Strikes, providing a new way to play. There are also new quests, weapons, and gear, as well as new gifts and treasures. Those include what looks like a mask that resembles a Devil Splicer version of a snowman.

As for SRL, it's unclear exactly how it will differ from last year's version. The small bits of gameplay featured during the video show the same sorts of gates you'll want to hit while racing--there are new tracks, but it otherwise it looks like business as usual. There will, however, be new things to earn, including shaders, emblems, and Sparrows.

Despite being unveiled at PSX, there was no indication of what elements, if any, of all of this will be exclusive to the PS4 version of Destiny.
