Destiny: Rise of Iron's PS4-Exclusive Content Revealed

Destiny is getting more PlayStation-exclusive content, this time for the Rise of Iron expansion.

Announced today on the PlayStation Blog, this content for PlayStation 4 comes in the form of a map, quest, and ship. The map is called Icarus and it's for Destiny's Crucible multiplayer mode. It's set in the Languid Sea on Mercury and is described as a "mid-sized" map that works with all 6v6 modes.

The map will cater to a number of playstyles, as it features long sightlines and close-quarters areas. Additionally, the map's main chamber has a door that closes, according to its description. You can go through it to move to the other side of the map quickly, but it can also crush you, apparently.

Here is the official description for Icarus:

"This Golden Age solar farm on Mercury has remained untouched by the Vex for reasons unknown. The Vanguard has denied petitions from various weapon foundries to research it until the Warlock orders have finished their surveys first. An exemption has been granted to Lord Shaxx and his Crucible: the Guardians are free to utilize Icarus as a live-fire training zone."

Destiny's new PlayStation-exclusive quest is called "Show of Strength." There isn't much to go on at this point, but a quote from the Destiny NPC Tyra Karn suggests it takes place in the Plaguelands and involves the Devil Splicers, "While you serve the Vanguard in the Plaguelands, I wonder if you'd be so kind as to help me understand the more brutal aspects of the Devil Splicers' brand of worship," Karn said.

Players who successfully complete the quest will earn a Star Fox-y ship called Timeless Tershkova. You can see this ship in the image above, while more pictures of the PlayStation-exclusive content are in the gallery.

All of this Destiny Rise of Iron content will be exclusive to PS4 until at least fall 2017, Activision said in a news release. This one-year timed-exclusivity period is the same as with past ones, including for The Taken King, so Xbox players should see that content soon.

Rise of Iron launches on September 20 for PS4 and Xbox One, which is also the same day that Destiny: The Collection comes out on those platforms. The $60 bundle comes with the game and all of Destiny's DLC, including Rise of Iron.
