The official Destiny website has revealed the next major content expansion is called Rise of Iron, confirming earlier rumours.

The DLC was scheduled to be officially unveiled during a special "Destiny Reveal Stream" on June 9, at 10 AM PT. However, the game's website seems to have revealed the information a little early.

The website invites readers to "Watch Rise of Iron Trailer," but when the link is clicked it redirects to a post about The Taken King, an older expansion.

According to the site, Rise of Iron will launch on September 20 for Xbox One and PS4.

Previous reports have suggested the Rise of Iron expansion will reportedly feature a new raid, and "will be larger than both year-one DLC packs." The character featured in a leaked promo image was shown wielding a hammer, suggesting a new type of weapon will be introduced as part of the expansion. This has not yet been officially confirmed.

Bungie will no doubt provide more information on Rise of Iron during its stream. It previously teased we'll be learning "all about the next threat that you'll confront as Guardians."

Looking further ahead, Bungie is also working on a Destiny sequel for 2017, which was recently rebooted, according to a report.
