Destiny Going Offline Tuesday for "Several Hours" as Bungie Deploys Latest Hotfix [UPDATE]

Destiny servers will be offline for maintenance starting tomorrow, October 7, beginning at around 7 AM PDT. Publisher Activision said in a statement today that the maintenance period will focus on "improving the backend technology that enables players to connect to the world of Destiny." The maintenance should also provide "more stability" for players who have previously encountered connection issues.

The maintenace is expected to take "several hours" to be finalized, and Destiny will be completely unplayable for the duration of the downtime. The full October 7 Destiny patch notes are below.

Client fixes:

• Added more data logging for matchmaking systems
• Improved connectivity failure handling to reduce beaver (Kick To Orbit events) KTOs
• Improved logging of player disconnections
• Internal tools fixes to speed up our release process
• Fixes to the roster system to allow us to tune the frequency of roster updates on Xbox One
• Fixed a bug that allowed users to quick scope on some weapons

Server Fixes:

• Security fixes
• Server performance improvements
• Fixes to reduce the frequency of some KTOs
• Better logging to help diagnose connectivity problems
• Fixes to some Centipede errors that were exclusive to specific player characters

Bungie has been continually updating Destiny since its record-setting launch on September 9 for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The most recent patch was last week's 1.0.2 update, which made major changes to Engrams.

Bungie is expected to continue to deliver updates to Destiny as time goes on. "The Destiny community is vital to the process of growing this universe," Activision said last week.
