"We've had a great time working closely with the team of stellar writers, designers, producers, and actors on the Defiance TV show," Trion Worlds CEO Scott Hartsman said in a statement to Polygon.

Hartsman added that Defiance the game will "continue exactly as before."

Defiance launched as a paid title but later adopted a free-to-play model. Trion has also said it would consider Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions once their install base was big enough.
