Deadpool preorder bonuses revealed

GameStop and EBGames shoppers get map pack, while Amazon customers receive $5 credit towards Marvel graphic novels.

Activision today announced preorder bonuses for High Moon Studios' upcoming Marvel action game Deadpool. As has become an industry trend, the bonuses are split between retailers.

GameStop and EB Games shoppers will receive the "Merc with a Map Pack," which includes two maps for Deadpool's Challenge mode: GRT Plaza and Inside the Tower. Also up for grabs are Deadpool digital wallpapers for GameStop PowerUp Rewards members.

Those who preorder Deadpool at Amazon will receive a $5 Amazon credit towards the following Marvel graphic novels: Deadpool, Vol. 1: Dead Presidents, Deadpool, Vol. 1: Secret Invasion, Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, Deadpool, Vol. 2: Dark Reign, and Deadpool, Vol. 3: X Marks the Spot.

Amazon shoppers will also receive a digital Deadpool wallpaper and digital cover sleeve.

Activision cut 40 full-time positions at High Moon Studios following the completion of Deadpool this month to "better align our development talent against our slate."

Deadpool launches June 25 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 at $50, while the PC version will be available for $40. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

Wow these the type of games that be scoring low. I wouldn't be surprise if this game score between a 4.5 - 5.0. I just don't really know about this game but I hope it does fine like get a 7.0 -7.5. If the review score goes over my expectation, then I be really surprise.

please don't be Duke Nukem Forever 2.0

Why is everyone ragging on the publisher of the game without mentioning the actual developer!?  Did any of you even play the superb Transformers Fall of Cybertron?  I am not worried about the quality of this game or High Moon's ability to make a great licensed game.

As weak as the incentives are, I'm still purchasing Deadpool.

Don't screw this up, Activision.

...like your colossal steaming pile of shit: The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.

Well, this won't rush me. I can live perfectly fine without Amazon credit or challenge maps.

If they had more single player content I migh have been interested, fans want deadpool because of his personality, that's what sets him apart. If they wanted the same kind of action and didn't care about that, they's just go play Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

I know this is going to make me want to buy a bag full of doorknobs and go insane at Activision.

The fact they threw Cable in there makes me cringe but... just maybe.... O God please don't let this game suck.

Those are some seriously weak incentives. I won't be rushing to place an order.

Uau. Actvision and this softhouse are as good in humor as Charlie Sheen is for drama...

They rushed this out the door then fired everybody who worked on it. I'm sure this is going to to be a top quality game. /sarcasm

Dear Marvel

I like your comics, I like your IPs (X MEN, Daredevil) and I really like your movies . But please for the love of god cancel your contract with Activision games and set up your own studios with the best talents who can make amazing video games based on your IPs. ( Like you did for the movie studios) .

Sincerely a Comic Book Fan and someone who wants good competition for the Batman Arkham Games ( the games are awesome and it would be nice if there were more awesome super hero games)

Why must you take a big steaming shit on my favorite Marvel character Activision?

Nothing is safe anymore..

Hmmm, at first I was like cool, a new game under $60!!!  Then I thought "damn, okay, what's wrong with it already????"

Activision released The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct with little fanfare and a $50 price point and we all know what a steaming pile of crap that was. Being a Walking Dead fan, I REALLY wanted that game to be good and almost convinced myself to buy it despite all the horrendous reviews. Lucky for me, a guy I work with convinced me of how bad it was. He's a big Walking Dead fan as well and to hear him tell me how bad it was is all I needed to scratch it off my list. Be afraid of this Deadpool game, be very afraid.

I really want this game to succeed and to actually turn out to be a great game. I am a fan of Deadpool and own numerous comic books. Hopefully they don't ruin the character.

Do people really pre-order games?  I guess i technically pre-ordered Bioshock Infinite, but it was literally the day before so i could get 2 free games with it lol.

Unfortunately, this game will most likely turn out terrible.

It's a bit odd how there hasn't been any gameplay footage yet, and it's only two months off.

At one point Deadpool will say "Buy the damned DC, okay?" because he does stuff like that.

So Activision got their greedy hands on this game huh? No wonder there's gonna be DLC, and definitely no surprise that we get maps *cough* COD *cough*. I mean come on, it's a Deadpool game, get creative. Where is the appeal in maps!?

@psuedospike

High moon is great but activision  is screwing them up, no matter what the game will be awesome, and hope it helps push forward the movie.

@meatz666I liked Charlie Sheen in Platoon and Wall Street, but I prefer him in Hot Shots-kind of movies. Didn't like Two and a Half Men, but I don't like many sitcoms. I like Deadpool as a character, but I'm not certain this game will be worth playing.

@firehawk998 Check out Marvel Heroes by Gazillion.  It's led by David Brevik, one of the dudes from Diablo series.  From the youtube clips it looks a lot like Diablo.  Seeing as it's a free-to-play it might be worth a shot when it comes out in June.  Generally I hate the idea of free-to-play but for games like Dota or Marvel, if it increases the chances they release more characters, I can let that slide (as long as I don't have to pay for items, only new chars and skins).  One of the frustrating things about X-Men Legends was that characters were either unplayable NPCs or they were cookie-cutter, with only a couple unique playstyles.  Maybe free-to-play will motivate the designers to make them more unique?  Time will tell, but it's not made by Activision so that's a plus.

@OurSin-360 I preorder shit cuz I'm really good friends with a couple of the people that work at my local gamestop and it helps their sales if I preorder.  Other than that, nah, no real point.  For this I guess there is so you can get the map packs for free, but with other games I don't really care about some extra skin or unique shotgun.

Hurvl

@TrueGB Lol, he's supporting DC Comics? Perhaps you mean DLC? Either way, it would actually be funny if he broke the fourth wall and asked you to buy products from their (Marvel's) largest competitor.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@DamnILoveGames I'd like a map where there are four walls and you can break the fourth wall, just like Deadpool breaks the fourth wall occasionally.

meatz666
meatz666

@Hurvl @meatz666 Fuck, you're totally right. I just wanted to make an analogy for laughs, and the "current" Charlie Sheen is what came to my mind. I'll rephrase it "Actvision and this softhouse are as good in humor as Genesis is for cooking toasts"... Better? :)

I like Deadpool a lot too. I liked that the game has blood (something that all his game appearances never had, I suppose), but I'm smelling like those 6.0 games, you know? Like Thor, or Green Latern...

It's not a rule, but NORMALLY a 18 rating mean that the game can be good. Since they will shrink their audience, they have to sell more. Producers hardly put so much money for a smaller market.

firehawk998
firehawk998

@debryson @firehawk998 Activision was the publisher Raven Software  was the developer. Last I heard they were helping to make COD. Even since then they havent focused on creating good Marvel games but instead ( Activiision and High Moon Studios)relied on god know how many mediocre Spiderman games. This game looks generic . I want the Marvel to give this games the Rock steady treatment or atleast try to get Raven Software to make it.

Blackzero123

@Hurvl Would be funny if was talking to Deathstroke behind Marvel's back.

DamnILoveGames
DamnILoveGames

@Hurvl @DamnILoveGames I actually wouldn't be surprised if they charged another £12 or the dollar equivalent for that actually. Then they'll just need a lot of famous people to advertise it and job done.

Hurvl
Hurvl

@meatz666 I got the joke, but since I love movies as much as video games, I just thought I'd add what I think of Charlie Sheen. Several actors still working nowadays were much better in the 80's, so I'm not very impressed with the current Charlie Sheen. I smell a 6 or 7 for this game, but I don't know enough about it and it's not my favorite genre, so if it fails it's just one less game to add to my large want-to-play-backlog.

DamnILoveGames
DamnILoveGames

@Hurvl @DamnILoveGames Or maybe it was £11 something, that is of course for COD maps (the holy grail of all DLCs). But yeah if you can be patient and wait for a complete edition then yes, it is certainly beneficial. On the topic of cash I always wondered why people say stuff like 'I'm not really sure this game is worth $60'. I mean, there aren't many games that sell at full price, and that's £50 in British currency. I only ever saw a COD game sell at that price, I'm not mouthing it off, that's literally the only game I've seen selling for full price. They're usually between £30 and £40 over here, and if you're lucky they can be in the £20s. I'm just so worried that Activision are going to milk this game to death.

Imagine...

In a world...Where pre-existing game content is almost non-existant, and industry ruling Activision is now in charge of all DLC. This year...witness the horror...of menu screens and instruction manuals being sold separately...ACTIVISION:The movie...Release date information sold separately.

Hurvl

@DamnILoveGames 12 british pounds!? That sure is an expensive map pack. I thought 15 dollars was overkill, but I guess things are more expensive in the UK. Steam charges me in Euros (live in Sweden), but I don't know the equivalent DLC price, because I never buy separate DLC, I wait for the GotY/Complete Edition instead.
