Namco announced that it is working on a sequel to its 2002 action game Dead to Rights. Scheduled for initial release on the PlayStation 2 and Xbox, Dead to Rights II: Hell to Pay is tentatively scheduled to hit store shelves in the fall of 2004.

"We are extremely excited to announce the sequel to our highly successful Dead to Rights title," said Andre Emerson, senior producer at Namco. "With even more groundbreaking gameplay features, a gripping new hard-boiled story, and high cinematic production values, Dead to Rights II: Hell to Pay redefines the highly successful action noir genre established by the original."

In Dead to Rights II, players will once again assume the role of a cop, named Jack Slate, and his canine partner, Shadow, as they become embroiled in a war between criminal organizations who are battling for control of Grant City's underworld. The gameplay will be story-driven and will feature a 360-degree brawling system, melee-weapon combat, and an all-new spherical, slow-motion diving system.

We'll bring you more information on Dead to Rights II: Hell to Pay as soon as it becomes available.
