Dead Rising 3 spotted on resume

LinkedIn profile of animation firm Blur Studio employee adds to speculation over unannounced Capcom zombie game.

Additional evidence for the existence of Dead Rising 3 has come to light. The LinkedIn resume of a rigging supervisor at animation firm Blur Studio (via All Games Beta) includes mention of an unannounced third entry in Capcom's zombie-themed series.

No further information on Dead Rising 3 was included in the LinkedIn profile, and a Capcom representative told GameSpot, "Capcom has made no announcements regarding any new Dead Rising titles."

Venice, California-based Blur Studio has created cinematics for numerous film, television, and game franchises. Most recently, the company has done work for the games Guardians of Middle-earth and BioShock: Infinite, as well as the title sequence for David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

This is not the first time Dead Rising 3 has been spoken of outside official channels. During December 2011, a report suggested the game would leave series star Frank West behind, instead focusing on an auto mechanic named Rick. If the report proves accurate, the game will be set in a fictional town known as Los Perdidos, California, where a zombie outbreak has closed off the town's borders.

Rick's plan, according to the report, is to restore a plane and escape the town before it is destroyed. Finding parts for the plane and getting it to fly will be one of the main features of the game, which will also reportedly include an "undercurrent of themes about illegal immigration."

The most recent entry in the Dead Rising series was Dead Rising 2: Off the Record, which was developed by Blue Castle Games and shipped in September 2010. For more on that title, check out GameSpot's review.

There was such an outrage over no Frank in DR2 that they re-released the game re-centered around Frank, and they are making DR3 without Frank?!

Frank is what makes DR games from good to great. His tired, nonplussed reactions to every crazy fucking thing he comes across are so wonderful. He is unlike every video game protagonist in that he just doesn't want to fucking be there. AT ALL. 

 

Please don't leave Frank out again Capcom!

Perhaps it will be targeted for next-gen consoles instead. I do hope it's developed by Blue Castle Games, they did a great job with DR2.

everyone seems so perplexed by the time system.  isn't that one of the things DR fans love?  this game would be boring as shit without the sense of urgency.

cant wait for dead rising 2 was great load of fun playthrough 3 times was great anxious to see a new dead rising and hopefully see chuck as a factor in the story

Remove the time and it will be great. No, I don't want a seperate sandbox mode. Don't have a time limit in the campaign. Simple.

This would be an excellent Xbox 360 swan song. The series began on Xbox and should close off the Xbox 360 era.

Question is......will they continue from the 360 exclusive only DLC that followed DR2?  That left alot of questions.

The first game was killed by a broken save system, horrid time limits, and respawning bosses.  The second had the same awful time constraints.

 

Really hate this series.  The demo of the first was actually better than the full game.

 

Oh, and it's Capcom, so you know it's gonna suck.

I thought both games were fun enough. There always felt like something was missing though, and I can't quite put my finger on it.

 

At any rate, DR1 was better than 2, only because it had a freshness to it. There was also a certain zing you got in DR1's mall environment that just wasn't quite matched in the Vegas environment of 2. I hope they either decide to go back to something novel and more contained (like an amusement park with different lands, not a small city), or go truly open world if they decide to make it bigger (multiple cities, countryside, etc).

I havent played the second one yet.  I enjoyed the first game, but the time limit seemed to force you to rush through a lot of the game.

the crappy time limit and the need to use the medicine each 3 or 2 hours (not sure) on the little girl were annoying but the game gets boring fast anyway.

I'm not really the biggest fan of the series, what they should do for a DR3 is keep the story mode the way it is for long time fans but add a free mode with no restrictions, no limits and just pure zombie smashing goodness for us who want only to smash zombies.....

I don't really care about the story for the series, I hate the time limits, I just like smashing zombies........

I really liked Chuck and wanted him to return but this speculated idea sounds interesting.  I just hope Capcom doesn't turn Dead Rising into a pandering fest like they have with Resident Evil.

 @BladeStrike1234 Time management is a fundamental gameplay mechanic in the Dead Rising series, and it has been since the very beginning. This is not to say that the game cannot work without this system (I haven't yet been able to try Sandbox mode in OTR so I really don't know quite what it's like first-hand), but time has always been central. It's what drives the game forward, it provides the player with unique goals and challenges, and it makes for interesting scenarios and forces the player to make decisions about what to do and how to spend their time. The games are built around the idea that the player will play through multiple times, multiple ways and, over time, discover more and more of what the game has to offer. Time management a big part of what makes Dead Rising, Dead Rising.

 

I'm sure that in the grand scheme of things I am in the vast minority when it comes to opinions of the time management system, but I really hope that it is NOT removed. I love these games, I've been playing them for over six years (I still play Dead Rising's Infinite Mode sometimes, as I'm always wanting to improve my leaderboard ranking), and they're obviously made for people like me. Maybe they're just not made for people like you.

 @DrKill09 Yeah, so much thing to do and you have only 2 game "days" to complete all missions and stuff, should have a "free mode" only to mess with friends online. And don't forget that in Dead Rising 2 there is a moment when you fight a maniac with a broken mirror piece and he can beat 2 players (coop) with shotguns and machine guns.

 @Poodger It's because you can't crouch in a firefight behind a half wall or can't reload fire weapons, so you have to carry 5 rifles, 2 sniper rifles and 3 shotguns if you are going to fight psychos.

 Thing is even if you don't complete the game in that amount of time you can still go back to it with your stats being higher. You should also have knowledge on the entire map.

 @ZackRoyer  @DrKill09 The DR games are built around the idea of replayability. The fact that you cannot do all there is to do in one playthrough is not only not a bad thing, but it's *by design*.

 

As for the broken mirror vs. shotguns/machine guns... this isn't a "this game is so unrealistic!" complaint, is it?

As for you not having time to level up, that's the point of the time management system. Since the game is built around the idea of replayability, it's almost a given that you won't be able to beat every encounter in a given playthrough. The idea is that you're supposed to pick and choose, and come back another time (perhaps on another playthrough) when you're ready.

 

I really think that if you understand this idea, you may have a lot more fun with the game. This game certainly isn't for everybody (to me it's always felt somewhere between a mainstream series and a niche series), but as a long-time fan of the series I must say that there really is a lot to love about Dead Rising.

 @dsb333  @DrKill09 No im not complaining the game is "realistic", I only think it is completely non-sense, since my health was 5 squares(each hit one square) and his life was a huge life bar.I couldn't level up in enough time to get more life squares to beat him, even with an arsenal i couldn't beat the man with a broken mirron, it's too frustating.
