Dead Rising 2 goes Off the Record Oct. 11

Frank West-starring budget spin-off to last year's zombie-action game gets definitive date for North America.

by

Capcom has finally gone on record with the release date for Dead Rising 2: Off the Record. The publisher's latest zombie-action game will arrive in North American stores for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC October 11.

Frank may be All-American, but that suplex is strictly German.

The date shouldn't come as a surprise to attentive zombie watchers, as it appeared on Capcom Europe's blog and the publisher's Facebook page late last month. Those postings were quickly taken down, but not before word of the release had spread like some sort of zombie virus.

Off the Record offers an alternate storyline to last year's horror action game Dead Rising 2. Photojournalist West--the protagonist of the original Dead Rising--stars in the title, getting the scoop on a zombie outbreak in the Las Vegas-like Fortune City. In addition to the combo weapon feature introduced in Dead Rising 2, Off the Record will bring back the original game's photography feature, where players gain experience for snapping pics that are judged for their horror, drama, brutality, and erotic content.

The game includes new missions, enemies, combo weapons, environments, items, and vehicles. The game will also feature technical improvements like reduced load times and better network performance for online play. Capcom is also promising "enhancements" to the save system and co-op modes.

If there is any mini type games for off the record like how dr2 had case zero and case of the west, they better also be on pc and ps3 this time. Sucks I have to buy those on 360 even though I play dr2 on pc.

The game is $40. I wonder if that means it will be very short.

I happily pre-ordered and bought Dead Rising 2. Still love cranking it up and just killing zombies. So, any excuse to do it with new weapons, new settings, improved gameplay AND Frank with photography? Hell son, where do I sign up?

they could have just advanced the story and made this into a proper Dead Rising 3. So Dead Rising 2.5 should be O.K

Glad I waited. Now that they added checkpoints it will be tolerable to play.

I wish they'd just port Dead Rising 1 over to PS3 -- maybe throw some Move support in there like they did for the Wii port. Call me crazy, but I really liked the Willamette Mall better than the Fortune City mall.

I'll gladly shell out for a chance to play Dead Rising 2 as it should have been, with Frank West. Chuck Greene was dull and Katey nearly ruined the game. Dead Rising is about FUN first and foremost and that is where Katey was a big mistake. It is much harder to enjoy cross-dressing zombie slaying when a little girl's life is at risk. A character like Katey exists to raise the emotional stakes of a game, which is contrary to what Dead Rising should be.

The last game was too short but fun. Ill RENT this 1 before i drop another $60 down a hole.

I hope there's a good story to this version of the game and not just random zombie killing. They also should definitely make Dead Rising 3 already, enough with the Hyper Turbo versions, Street Fighter already has enough of that.

I hope there will be a three for one pack.

So...$39.99? I thought this wasn't going to be full retail price. When do we find out the cost?

I loved dead rising 2 felt like it was a hidden gem that did not get enough apperication but I would rather they focus on making a 3rd FULL game
