Gamers who finished September's Dead Rising 2 know the zombie action game leaves some plot points unresolved. Those loose ends may be tied up soon, as Capcom today confirmed a December launch window for the game's downloadable epilogue, Dead Rising 2: Case West.

Dead Rising 2's sense of humor may not be earnest, but it's about to get a lot more Frank.
Dead Rising 2's sense of humor may not be earnest, but it's about to get a lot more Frank.

The Xbox 360-exclusive Case West features the return of Frank West, the protagonist of the original Dead Rising, as well as his camera. Frank will team up with Chuck Greene, star of Dead Rising 2, to uncover the truth about Phenotrans, the pharmaceutical company behind the Zombrex medication that treats (but doesn't cure) people infected by the undead hordes.

Set at Phenotrans' Fortune City facility, Case West will see the undeath-defying characters resort to their old tricks. The original game's picture-taking gameplay and the sequel's duct tape-driven weapon combinations will both return, with both Chuck and Frank able to snap pics and wield an amalgamated arsenal of odds and ends.

Case West will be the second downloadable Dead Rising offshoot, bookending the story of the original game along with August's Dead Rising 2: Case Zero. Also an Xbox 360 exclusive, Case Zero served as a prequel to the full game, telling the story of how and why Chuck found himself in Fortune City just in time for a catastrophic zombie outbreak.
