Tecmo announced today that Dead or Alive Online, its Xbox adaptation of Dead or Alive 2, has been re-dubbed Dead or Alive Ultimate. "Dead or Alive Online only signifies a portion of this game while the new name, Dead or Alive Ultimate, describes more accurately what fans will experience when they buy this game,” said Tecmo marketing manager Tony Tarpey.

Besides a totally reworked, Xbox-Live enabled version of Dead or Alive 2, Dead or Alive Ultimate will also include an online-play-compatible copy of the original Sega Saturn edition of Dead or Alive. An assortment of special features will also be included with the game, including: new character costumes, new battle stages, a new opening movie, collectible trading cards, and an as-yet unrevealed bonus feature.

Although Dead or Alive Ultimate has no ESRB rating yet, it is still on track for a March 23 release. GameSpot's preview has more on the one-two punch this $49.99 fighting game will give your Xbox.
