Dead Island novel lurching to UK

Doctor Who: Ghosts of India author Mark Morris penning book based on Deep Silver's upcoming tropical undead game; North American debut uncertain.

Novelizations and zombies are two major trends in video games. Now, Deep Silver is bringing the two together with a novel based on the upcoming undead action game Dead Island.

Dead Island gets a book this September.

Published by Bantam and due to arrive in the United Kingdom on September 8, Dead Island is being written by Doctor Who: Ghosts of India author Mark Morris.

According to Bantam, the £6.99 ($9.50) Dead Island paperback novel will follow the pursuits of four vacationers trying to stay alive on the tropical-paradise-turned-undead-infested-island. Dead Island has been announced only for the UK, and as of press time, Deep Silver had not responded to GameSpot's inquiry regarding international release plans.

As for Dead Island the game, the title is set in a secluded resort and tells the brutal story of everyday civilians caught up in a zombie apocalypse. Gamers can choose among four character classes: the leader, the tank, the jack-of-all-trades, and the assassin archetypes. Every character starts out the same way--suddenly attacked by zombies at the hotel, knocked out, and dragged to a nearby pool house converted to a shelter.

I can only hope this will be the last great Zombie game. Zombies just aren't fresh anymore (if you'll excuse the pun).

I hope it's a long in-depth novel about the game, not a short, uninteresting one. Might get it.

I hope this game will be good, but it doesn't look like it gonna be any good. If I choose to buy this then it would be for the PC because of the modding community.

I just don't see it. Than again, they'll let anyone write a book about anything these days, regardless of talent or merit....Snookie is proof of that. Anywho, stoked about the game in any case.

For crying out loud! This is NOT Deep Silver's game - they're publishing it! If GS had any decency the header would go like this: "Doctor Who: Ghosts of India author Mark Morris penning book based on Techland's upcoming tropical undead game; North American debut uncertain." Or, at the very least, like this: "Doctor Who: Ghosts of India author Mark Morris penning book based on upcoming tropical undead game published by Deep Silver; North American debut uncertain. >:[

$9.50 for a book based on a single video game? Very funny, these aren't Resident Evil (good series, I wish they had continued them), Warhammer 40k, and Halo. Wasn't actually thrilled with the Gears of Wars books as they came between the events of the games and I was only able to get the first one. Plus, Nobody has been smart enough to bring the rest of the series to the PC. Of course, I am thinking the same thing about Halo as well. Still, wait a couple of games in before you start putting out books. Especially, on a game that looks like its going to be a huge disappointment.

First I'll play the game, then I'll decide if any of this other stuff is worth my time.
