Dead Island DLC delayed

Release of $10 Bloodbath Arena content pushed back so Techland can add "further polishing" to the main game; new release date coming this week.

Gamers hoping to hop into new locations to mow down waves of animated corpses in Dead Island are going to have to wait. Deep Silver has announced that the game’s Bloodbath Arena add-on has been delayed.

Bloodbath Arena's opening ceremonies have been delayed.

According to the game's Facebook page, developer Techland needed more time to add "further polishing" to the main game before it could ready the $10 Bloodbath Arena content for release.

However, gamers won't have to wait long for an updated release date for the Bloodbath Arena content. According to the statement, a new release date for the DLC will arrive this week.

The Bloodbath Arena pack--previously a Dead Island Special Edition-exclusive--is composed of both single-player and multiplayer challenges in four distinct areas. Waves of zombies will assault players in the Bloodbath Arena content, with gamers tasked with simply killing them all and staying alive in the process.

Additionally, players can display and track their progress via the Bloodbath Arena's leaderboards. And to assist in those deathly pursuits, the content includes an exclusive weapon: the brain wave bomb.

In addition to the upcoming DLC, Dead Island is set to expand to the silver screen via film studio Lionsgate. The Mummy producer Sean Daniels is leading work on the unnamed film, which will focus on "human emotion, family ties, and nonlinear storytelling."

seriously its a great game but their technical problems made them pay a large price. they should made the dlc as free to compensate us.tho i had it pre-ordered.

Gamestop guy says just about everyone who pre-ordered DI, returned it with the DLC Bloodbath code intact. They really should have had that DLC ready. With Gears 3, Rage, MW3 and Skyrim just ahead (at the time), people are impatient and trading in. And honestly, we all know Bloodbath arena is just going to be that circular pit from the jungle horde style...

A way too check if game is saving is too go into options and switch between analogue and digital play,it will automatically save if it doesn't you have the save bug. Been doing this for past few weeks and never lost any save data and I only play this game with friends.

@warrner11 That's a bit too much, no? I wouldn't play something that is a piece of crap in almost every way. The game is very funny, but I can recognize the huuuge drawbacks like the savegame screwing or the incredibly stupid and useless (and gamebreaking for many) ko system.

@DarthVeng_basic yeah they are making a campaign add-on that follows the story of the guy thats at the prison, Ryder White or whatever

This game in almost everyway is a piece of crap, but my god if i dont just love beating the crap outa zombies. If this wasnt bout zombs, i woulda been sold this off, but the abusive nature of handling zombies gives it a passing grade. I accept DLC delay for game improvements.

In other words: "We know we released the game long before it was finished. We are now taking steps to fix the problems that should of been caught during testing but decided to ignore anyways. So the DLC got pushed back because we had to spend time actually finishing the game after we released it." That translation sounds more accurate.

I beat the game, started on my New Game+, backed out to the menu later on so I knew it had saved, cause I went right back in to check where it had put me, came back a few days later and it had wiped my New Game+, deleted most of my Epic weapons, and put me back into the city level just before the lab level.

@Mega_Skrull You're so right. I know they think they're doing us a favor by taking the thinking out of saving, but allowing us to flip between a few saves slots should be a no brainer. Even an ill-timed unexpected power outage could screw a player. Luckily I'm at 895 GS for the game so I'm past the point I'd get too angry, but I also hate, hate, hate games that take saving power away.

Please oh please, lift the copy restriction from the saves or make multiple autosaves like Two Worlds 2 or something! I can't help but fear for all those hours going to waste at any moment just because of this silly system. C'mon, so many people have already been screwed!

I have zero use for any Arena challenges, Waves of zombies, or Leaderboards nonsense in a game like this. I am sick of DLC being some boring Challenge modes or new maps I care nothing about instead of adding more to the Main game itself. Either add to the main game with new quests etc, or forget it.

Great to hear they're fixing the bugs. This game is awesome, but it's plagued by quite a few bugs.

Allright, just make sure you don't accidentaly release a pre-build of the DLC, Techland.. Nasty things can happen from that :)

How about they release a bloody PC patch first?. Their hasn't been one since launch and many people are still having terrible issue's that most competent dev's wouldn't dream of releasing with their games.

I do not care how long they delay the DLC, I just hope they remember who are entitled to the free DLC that was offered as a free exclusive during the pre-order period.

Either they've learnt their lesson from Dead Island's launch or they're mocking us.
