DDR Ultramix 3 hustles to retail

Konami is kicking out the Xbox jams once again--the company today shipped Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 3 to stores across the country.

The game boasts a standard tracklisting of more than 70 songs from the likes of Moby, Black Eyed Peas, Blackalicious, and NOFX, more than any DDR game released in North America to date. However, gamers can also get on Xbox Live and download an additional 60 songs from the first two DDR Ultramix games to assemble a truly epic Dance Dance repository.

Such a catalog comes with a price, however, as the extra songs are available only in packs of five at five bucks a pop. For gamers with a dance fever that won't be broken by a mere 130 songs, Konami is promising monthly add-on packs with new songs not featured in previous DDR titles starting in November.

In addition to the online song downloads and online gameplay modes, Ultramix 3 offers new offline freestyle and quest modes. Freestyle lets players hit the nonslip Dance Dance floor without pressure of having to perform and meet cues. On the other hand, the quest mode challenges gamers to travel from city to city assembling a world championship-caliber dance team, presumably with the intent of "serving" a group of snotty rich kids with fly moves but no heart.

Dance Dance Revolution Ultramix 3 is rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older and is available with a dance pad for $64.99 or as a stand-alone game for $39.99.
