The network confirmed that the shows will form part of its 2017-2018 programming. Arrow moves onto its sixth season, and The Flash will be on its fourth. Supergirl and Legend of Tomorrow will both be on their third seasons. All four shows are currently on mid-season breaks, and return later this month.

The CW has also renewed the popular shows My Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Jane the Virgin, and Supernatural.

In a statement, CW boss Mark Pedowitz said: "Over the past several seasons, The CW has built a schedule of proven performers, from our lineup of DC superheroes, to critically acclaimed comedies, to sci-fi dramas.

"Early pickups of these seven series now allow our producers to plan ahead for next season, and gives us a solid base to build on for next season, with original scripted series to roll out all year long."

In related news, it was revealed this week that another DC hero--occult detective John Constantine--will be heading to CW Seed as an animated show.

The CW's digital channel is already home to DC's Vixen, and the new Constantine will premiere later in 2017. The character will be voiced by Matt Ryan, who played him in Arrow as well as in the short-lived live-action Constantine, which was broadcast by NBC in 2014.
