Last month, the Classification Board of Australia assigned a G rating to Sega's Daytona USA for multiple platforms, indicating a rerelease was in the works for the publisher's classic arcade racer. That notion received a jumpstart today, thanks to a tease post on Sega's official blog.

The blog challenged readers to name an upcoming mystery game from "a classic SEGA franchise that's returning," and provided a short video clip for a hint. The clip depicted nothing more than a rabbit with word bubbles appearing above its head, but the hint came in the form of the soundtrack. When the rabbit's word bubbles cue the viewer that it's time for a hint, a section of the Daytona USA soundtrack with the distinctive "Rolling start!" voice clip plays.

Sega will randomly pick 10 entrants who correctly guess the game and provide them with a code to download the game for the PlayStation 3. The promotion's official rules note that the average value of the prizes is $10, putting a price tag on the game. Meanwhile, Sony dated the game on its official Twitter feed, linking to Sega's blog post and mentioning a classic Sega franchise "coming to PSN on 10/25."

Daytona USA was first released in arcades in 1993 and was one of Sega's first-party titles at the 1995 launch of the Sega Saturn. In 2001, Sega also released a Dreamcast version of the game with added online play. More recently, the game Sega touts as "the most played arcade racer" was relaunched in 2010 under the name Sega Racing Classic.
