Dawn of Dreams breaks in stores

Capcom is giving gamers another chance to exorcise their demons. The latest edition in the Onimusha series, Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams, has shipped to stores and is now available for the PlayStation 2. The game is rated M for Mature and retails for $39.99.

Continuing with the tradition of the franchise, medieval Japan is once again plagued with a demonic invasion. Unlike previous Onimusha games, however, the man behind the evil isn't a possessed Oda Nobunaga, but rather his successor, Hideyoshi Toyotomi. Gamers will take on the new villain with a new hero, Soki, and a ragtag group of companions, which are all playable characters.

The game, a third-person hack-and-slasher spread over two discs, sees the five playable characters slicing through enemies with a variety of fighting styles. Though previous Onimusha games were famous for featuring celebrity likenesses, such as The Professional's Jean Reno or House of Flying Daggers' Takeshi Kaneshiro, Dawn of Dreams features no movie stars.
