Dave Mirra rides onto Wii

PSP BMX game to arrive on Nintendo's new console in June courtesy of Crave Entertainment.

In 2005, Crave Entertainment snatched the rights to the Dave Mirra BMX game franchise from the ashes of defunct publisher Acclaim. Crave released its first Mirra-branded effort, Dave Mirra BMX Challenge, for the PlayStation Portable last November. Now Mirra is once again tackling the console world, as Crave has announced a Wii edition of BMX Challenge, set for release in June.

Dave Mirra BMX Challenge will feature a dozen levels that can be played in race or stunt modes, 13 bikes to ride, and customizable characters. Of course, Crave is also including multiple new control schemes to take advantage of the Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers.

Dave Mirra BMX Challenge will retail for $29.99. For more on the PSP edition of the game, check out GameSpot's review.

Well, if it's anything like the old Dave Mirra games then I'm... Going to vomit. Those games were terrible and the fact that they aren't even charging full price tells me that even the suits at Crave know it's not worth it.

I think this is kinda iffy I mean sure it sounds intresting but how can the Wii controls make this fun?Well I guess ill just have to see how...Hope this game will be good

Hopefully it turns out to be a fun and intuitive take on the BMX genre.

I'd get it if I had money left ^^ but the wii, wiimotes, other wii games and PS3 are stealing my money

I didn't think the Dave Mirra license was still around.

I can just see a handlebar accessory already...or maybe a whole bicycle accessory that has a spot in the crossbar for the Wii remote to sit. Then it can sense the wheelies and tricks you do in your living room and display them onscreen. Bicycles through 50 inch plasma screens...I can just see the YouTube videos already...

oh let me jump for joy on this one

For everyone reasoning that $30 isn't bad for a not so good game, just think for $10 more you could get Metal Slug Anthology on Wii, and for $20 more you could get Super Paper Mario in less than a month, or even for $30 you can buy almost any really good DS game. Plus paying for trash, no matter how cheap, is only encouraging them to make more trash(i.e. bad movie/anime games).

Might, just might, be worth checking out.

this could be a really good game, if they were to make the graphics better than Dave Mirra Pro BMX2, for the Gamecube, it was really fun. and if they made some of the motion sensitive controls for flips and spins, that would be really cool. I think they could do really good with this game as long as its not a direct port.

I actually enjoyed freestyle bmx2 for the gamecube, but this will still probably be crap:(

I could see it working if they let you tilt your nunchuck to steer kinda of like SSX blur. The game will still be crap with all the tricks and stuff.

I can't imagine this will turn out good.

Anybody seem to notice that anything that comes out for the PSP comes out on the Wii? Anyways, another crappy "Extreme Sports" game :\

Wow this game is going to be garbage. And -Squirrel-, that "new" Prince of Persia game was also on all of the last gen consoles.

The games were crap before Dave Mirra removed his name from the franchise on BMX XXX. I don't think Wii originality will help that much. I am curious how you could ride a bike using that controller though.

*sigh*...still waiting for a third party to take making a game for the wii seriously..

Hmmmm.... I would sure like a good bmx game, but this one isn't it. and whats the deal with the PSP and the wii sharing titles? Why is th new prince of persia a wii and psp exclusive?

The only redeeming quality here is that they aren't going to try to hose us for more than 30 smackers. But then that's money that can go towards a quality DS or Wii game.

MissAndDie96

That game was a pile of crap. If they want to port a crappy BMX game why not make it interesting and port BMX XXX. Imagine what minigames the wiimote could be used for...

If it isn't a port of a PlayStation 2 game, it's a port of a PSP title. Man, videogame developers sure are lazy nowadays (except for a small few).

g-master999

I hope they have one of the control schemes with an attachment that has both nunchuk and remote pointing inward, like you're really holding a handlebar.

SpareJesus

As much as I enjoy the collection of Wii games I have, I'd rather not be given ports of bad games, thanks. Nintendo needs to push developers to be creative, not so damn lazy. An old game with new controls isn't always a seller. (Not counting Wario Ware, LoZ:TP, etc.)

zinkeboy

Yeah Wii really don't need this game getting ported. What do I want to spend 50 bucks on? The awesome looking Super Paper Mario which is getting good previews and lots of good press. Or Dave Mirra Port that scored less than a 4... hmmm

I don't know I liked the one on the Dreamcast and it scored a 3.6 so if it scores higher then that I might like it, but it is a port so I doubt it will be great.

GREAT, a PORT of a LOW scoreing PSP game is coming to the Wii!!!!!! The PSP game got a 3.9. WTF
