Move over skateboarding. Freestyle BMX biking is the extreme sport for the new generation and the creators of Thrasher: Skate and Destroy plan on being there with the ultimate BMX game.

Acclaim is stepping into the bike world and has enlisted the creators of Rockstar's Thrasher: Skate and Destroy, Z-Axis, to create the product: Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX for the PlayStation. The game is officially endorsed by BMX champ Mirra and will feature 12 dirt, vert, and street courses (including acclaimed "Lot 8," in indoor course at Camp Woodward) you'll take on from Minna's seat or perhaps racing against him as Ryan Nyquist, Leigh Ramsdell, Chad Kagy and about five others as of yet unmentioned.

Through each competition, you'll start with basic skills and equipment and as you improve, you'll have access to better stuff and likewise, will be able to pull off better tricks.

But that's the single player game. The multiplayer game will offer about ten challenges including an Around the World/HORSE-type game called B-M-X (shouldn't be too challenging with only three letters), trick competitions, and more.

The tracks will apparently be open for exploration and the controls are being built to fit the "easy to learn, difficult to master" definition. We'll have more on Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX soon.
