Space-combat simulation game DarkStar One isn't scheduled for release until August, but GameSpot is premiering the release of the PC game's demo this Friday at 9 a.m. PDT.

The demo, which weighs in at 950 MB, features about two hours of gameplay, plus a tutorial mode to bring newcomers to the space-simulation genre up to speed. DarkStar One, which is being developed by Ascaron Entertainment and published by CDV Software, allows players to both take on spaceship dogfighting and bartering on the open market.

Would-be space prowlers can gawk at the countdown timer and sign up for an e-mail reminder to download the demo on the DarkStar One demo premier page, or read GameSpot's latest preview of the game.
