Dark Souls II Wii U petition kicks off

Online petition to bring From Software's role-playing game to Nintendo's first HD console begins; 3,000 signatures netted thus far.

On Friday night, Dark Souls II was announced for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC, but not the Wii U. Now, gamers have launched an online petition at Change.org to bring the role-playing game to Nintendo's first high-definition console. It has netted 3,204 signatures thus far.

The creator of the Dark Souls II Wii U petition cites a couple of reasons the Wii U and its GamePad controller could benefit the game. The first, he said, is by using the GamePad to manage inventory. Controlling the inventory this way, players would not have their vision obscured on the TV itself when searching for items, he said.

The second major reason Dark Souls II should come to the Wii U, he said, is the console's "affordability" relative to the PC and PS3, as well as online fees associated with Xbox Live. Online access for the Wii U is free, with the exception of a 50-cent charge for minors.

Dark Souls II will feature a new hero, a fresh storyline, and an "unfamiliar" setting. "Epic battles with gruesome enemies" are promised, as well as a revamped server-based multiplayer mode that aims to "put a distinct Dark Souls II twist on the concept of playing with others."

Dark Souls II will also be "more straightforward and more understandable," according to new director Tomohiro Shibuya.

here is a petition i'd like to start:

Tomohiro Shibuya. please fire this guy. Not only does he make inconsiderate stupid remarks about our beloved game, his only experience is Resident Evil Outbreak. That's bad!! Lets get a petition going. We can't let a guy with no credibility handle dark souls 2. Why is Hidetaka Miyazaki stepping down? We need to find someone who's designed some really good games.

it should be on the WII-U

but will nintendo allow a super violent hack and slash dungen crawler on their system?

(and i know the zombiU is the supposed to be hardcore game of the wii-U but it's shit)

Nintendo has released a mediocre system, so they clearly haven't learned anything, and this will surely haunt them in the end.

Why so much hate on the Wii U? Did they murder your family? Hating on a system is so pointless.

Let them have for Christ sake. Is not like they will only be able to buy any DLC only after 23:00 is it?

Oh wait........

There is no reason why it should not come to the wii u i have dark souls on 360. i am sure that is playstation fanboys that don't want it to go on wii u because remember the fuse playstation fanboys made when DCM 4 and Resident evil 5 came to 360 even when Tekken 6 came on 360 playstation fanboys behaved like the game was not on ps anymore so i would say it is the same people that don't want dark souls 2 to be on wii u.

I think most multiplatform games tend to skip over the Wii U like Dark Souls 2 is because of the game pad controller. Borderlands 2 skipped the Wii U because there was nothing innovative they could add to the game that would make it distinct on the Wii U. Anything they would do for the Wii U version of Dark Souls 2 would seem tacked on and not really improve the value of the game, but most likely lower it. Imagine Dark Souls on the Wii U, what would be the point of the game pad controller, apart from the ever popular having the inventory or menu on the game pad. You would essentially be playing the PS3 or 360 version with bigger controller, oh my!!!

Being able to manage inventory in a separate screen without "pausing" the main gameplay could make the game more fluid, but having to look at two separate screens could diminish the sense of immersion.

As always, there are pros and cons. I trust From, let them decide.

Apparently some Dark Souls fans feel as if their game is too good for the Wii U lol. I can understand the feeling (wanting to feel special or feel associated to an elite group) but all of the "reasons" I've read as to why this shouldn't come to the Wii U seem beyond forced and phony. While worthy reasons may be present, I'm sure they are only possessed by the Developers of the game. I hope this game does come to Wii U but this petition isn't looking to good. I'll be signing it soon.

I hope this petition fails. Nintendo needs to learn some hard lessons.

This is kind of what you have to expect when you own Nintendo. They are notorious for missing out on great titles. I can't blame Dark Souls for not developing for the Wii U. Not only would they have to adapt and try to incorporate all the new features for the Wii U, but they'd be putting a product on a system that has no proven fan base unlike the xbox, ps3, and pc. I'd also imagine trying to do this for 4 different consoles would put a huge delay on it's development.

tightwad34
tightwad34

I think one reason people don't like the idea is because Nintendo is obviously the least hardcore of the consoles. I mean, it's hard for me to imagine Mario and Kirby on the same system as the most hardcore game out there. With that, I will say if they do the game right and it's what we all want, then hell yeah put it on the Wii U. Everyone needs to at least have the chance to see what all the fuss is about, right?  More success for the industry means...  well you know.

A talented developer making Dark Souls II for the Wii U could really do awesome things with the tablet controller.

So much hate for the Wii U....... oh well on a different note it should have said, inventory management, miiverse integration, and hey it would be cool to play the game on the pad.

@jon_bone Nothing to do with WiiU specifically, hating hardware is stupid.

We dont like nintendo and what the do, how they conditioned their fans to accept shitty old hardware as innovative and groundbreaking.

Nintenod nerds should be punished for their stupidty, maybe they will learn not to trust nintendo.

 @jtthegame316 You wrong.

I just dont want to wait more time so some pimple faced mario fans could get a new game which most of them wont appreciate because its not mario version 1000 or zelda ver. 800.

Chico86_basic
Chico86_basic

@Hydroze You do realize there's a WiiU Pro Controller right? Even if it played exactly the same the experience would not be detrimental. That's a lame excuse, like most others.

Chico86_basic
Chico86_basic

@camverge So you're basically saying no new console should have new games? WiiU has the Nintendo fan base and that's extremely obvious with Miiverse and the praise it has been getting. As far as development go even if it would just be a port I bet gamers would buy it. I understand there are costs in adapting games to other platforms, but that shouldn't stop devs from doing it. There's just too much skepticism like what happened with the Wii at the beginning. All for nothing if you ask me.

grove12345
grove12345

@camverge considering the amount of major developers who basically made anouncments time after time they wont be bringing their games to Wii U.... people ask why all  the WiiU hater? I ask why all the WiiU lovers? Thing will be totally obsolete in about a year anyways.

Chico86_basic
Chico86_basic

@tightwad34 Nintendo has made very clear it understands they need third party support, and in some instances like ME3, ACII, BLOPSII, BAC:AE and specially Bayonetta 2 have shown that kind of approach. The fact of the matter is that it's still maybe too soon for anything else at this point.

@Benny_a So they are stupid because they like Nintendo? How does that make any sense? They should be punished? What are you, a dictator? People have the right to like whatever they want. Its not all about the hardware, software is the number one most important thing for a system.

jtthegame316
jtthegame316

@Benny_a No i am right playstation fanboys think third parties should only put there game on playstation when third party games has nothing to do with sony and the dev in question have every right to bring it to another format. nintendo fans are very simular to sega fans they appciate good games it does not have to be a certian name for them to buy into it. it just has to be fun to play.. if anything playstation people are the ones that buy based on names hell the ps 1 was a fashion accessiory more so than a console just like the i phone is these days.

Hydroze
Hydroze

@Chico86_basic

Yeah I know that it has a pro controller but the game isn’t going to be made to only be playable on the pro controller. Since they have to work with the game pad they would have to make some changes to the game in order for it sell. If they made it the same as the PS3 and 360 counterparts why would people pay for the Wii U version when they can get the 360 or PS3 version since that’s most likely how they played the first one. So there’s little reason for them to make it for a system that they won’t make much of a profit off of.

camverge
camverge

 @Chico86_basic

I'm not saying new consoles shouldn't get new games, but I just don't think there's going to be a whole lot of appeal to try to develope for a console that's not truly next-gen. When Nintendo announced the WiiU and stated it would be more powerful than the xbox360 and the ps3, but wouldn't be next-gen a lot of peopl thought it was a bad idea. Why? Because developers are going to be looking to make the leap to the next best console, not something that just fills in the gap for a couple years.

Plus lookin back at my comment, I don't see anything that remotely regards me stating that they shouldn't get new games. What I'm saying is, Nintendo is notorious for missing out on great games. This is nothing new, it happened to the Gamecube, obviously the Wii, so why would the WiiU be any different?

camverge
camverge

 @grove12345

That's one of the few reasons I never considered picking up a Wii U. You're absolutely right that the new Xbox and PS will be more powerful when they come out, whether it be a year from now or longer, who knows. The fact of the matter is, the Wii U will only be a stronger console for a short while.

I was an avid Nintendo owner and when I owned the Gamecube, I felt ripped off. I watched games like God of War, HALO, Jade Empire, The Old Republic, Doom 3, and on and on and on coming out, and I was getting very little. Granted it got RE4 for a little while, but even after so long that went to the PS2, after that I told myself that Nintendo would really have to prove itself before I bought another.

 @grove12345  @camverge

Same with all consoles, within a year the hardware is already outdated.

Why the Wii U love? Well for many of us who've own and used it extensively, it's a pretty awesome console not only for gaming, but as an entertainment hub. Plus there's always the promise of amazing 1st party content so having amazing 3rd party content too would make it all the more sweet.

And what is this time after time? The system has been out for a month, this is stuff you say like a year later, not a month later. Have all of your forgotten how pathetic the PS3's launch was and how developers were passing it up in favor of the 360?

Benny_a
Benny_a

@teufelherz  for 2 reasons, one more consoles slower dev time, I want to play this game as soon as posible.

2. to punish nintendo nerdies, they choose outdated kid friendly toy, so let them play mario version 1000, keep the good games for adult friendly normal consoles

Benny_a
Benny_a

@jon_bone Xbox 1 can play games in 1080P.

It all depends on how much is going on in the game, AI, textures, post filters and so on.

Resolution is nothing, in PC world you have video cards for 40$ and video cards for 1000$, both can do 1080P and even 4K, but how fast?

the 40$ card may output windows desktop at 4K and 20 year old DOS game.

the 1000$ card will be able to run Far Cry 3/Crysis 3 at max setting.

Resolution as a spec is only important with static images like video, with games it says nothing.

jon_bone
jon_bone

@Benny_a Specs. really aren't everything. Wii U specs. aren't as bad as you make them sound. If it can play games at 1080p it can't be that low of specs.

Benny_a
Benny_a

@jon_bone Nintendo is evil, its the only company that hides detailed hardware specs, the only company that wants to make money on hardware from day one and so they sell shit hardware.

Its the only company that brainwashed their fans that shit hardware is good, that if you want good graphics you stupid and dont like games (thats the first reaction of nintendio owners when you talk to them about graphics)

Just look at some of replays I got here, so absurd shit you wont belive , some moron told me that if you want to max your PC games your an idiot, anotehr one said that 32GB in WiiU is MORE then enough (I have more in my phone and its not enough), another said that having HDD in console or PC is bad becuase it can break and so on.

These people are crazy and so yes, I would like to see them punished, I dont want to see any good games on WiiU and especially when next gen Xbox and ps comes out, I would like to see WiiU treated like the wii was, superb games will come to PC, Xbox and PS4 with wiiu left out becuase of the shitty spec.

jtthegame316
jtthegame316

@Benny_a That's where your wrong because the saturn was CD too also if it was not for nintendo there would of been on ps 1 because it started its life as a CD add on for the super nintendo but nintendo pulled out and sony continued the project thus the playstation was born.

Benny_a
Benny_a

@jtthegame316 I dont know anything about PS fans, im OK if it only comes to one platform or all 3 (sorry nintendo consoles are not counted), be it PS3, Xbox or preferably PC.

You make no sense, PS1 was the most classical console of all times, it got the most new franchieses ever, with tons of classic all time favorite games.

If not for PS1, we would play cartrige based games till this day

abHS4L88

Give it time, like I said, it's only been a month, again the Wii started out with excellent 3rd party support while the PS3 had horrible 3rd party support.

TTDog

@abHS4L88  The only danger is that in a years time 1st part development may be all that's left and then you're looking at a very slow trickle of new titles.

@GeezerPleazer  @Benny_a  The "most powerful console out right now"  shouldn't be petitioning to get ports of games meant for "inferior" systems.  If the WiiU was as good as you say it was, you'd think they would have thought ahead, and had more WiiU exclusive launch titles,  and that the ones they did have  weren't named things such as "Tank! Tank! Tank!". There is more to gaming then pretty graphics, but the WiiU is just a giant HD version of the DS.

GeezerPleazer
GeezerPleazer

@Benny_a  why are you even here commenting?  porting a game to the wii u would not slow down dev time, batman, and mass effect 3 pretty much did it overnight.  and your #2 makes no sense.  quit hating and leave this page, you are bringing nothing to the conversation.  The "outdated kid friendly toy" as you call it is the most powerful console available right now, i dont care that 360 and ps3 are old, it doesnt change the fact that for right now and probably for the next year or longer that the wii u is more powerful.  and if nintendo is so bad and out of touch how have they sold more consoles by a mile than ps3 and 360?  maybe it is because there is more to gaming than graphics.  and why did microsoft and sony release motion type aspects for their systems only after nintendo did it and was successful?  kinect and ps move werent even a thought on a white board until nintendo killed them in sales, as usual nintendo innovates and the other guys copy.
