Dark Souls II launching March 2014

Update: Namco Bandai confirms Dark Souls II will be shipping in March 2014.

Update: Namco Bandai has confirmed to Eurogamer that Dark Souls II will be shipping in March 2014.

Original story: Dark Souls II, the sequel to From Software’s 2011 hit role-playing game, Dark Souls may be releasing in March next year, according to a report on Kotaku.

A large billboard has been spotted in Los Angeles by user Norm the Alligator ahead of next week’s Electronic Entertainment Expo. The 2014 launch window has lead to speculation that the next title in the notoriously unforgiving series may also include a next-generation console release.

A Namco Bandai Australia spokesperson declined to comment on the release date, and reiterated that only Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC versions of the game have been announced.

Namco recently confirmed the company will be going "guns blazing" to market with Dark Souls II.

I hope sincerely, the developers don't change the archaic for of speech delivery from NPC's!!! It really suits the world and , and indescribable feeling of loss and depth to the game. Simply suits it perfectly.!!!

for all people saying this game will not be on ps4, the developers have not said this. they have said there will not be a next gen version. gai kai technology has already been confirmed to be able to stream ps3 games, so dark souls 2 will be available through gai kai. so no need to keep your ps3 for any games if you can wait till the release of the ps4 till you play them. Me personally, I am playing dc universe online and demons souls on my ps3 (since I completed dark souls 3 times I thought I might aswell try demons), so I have got plenty to play on till the ps4 comes out. I am done spending any more money on ps3.

This is the best game to test those out there that think or say they are true gamers. true gamers play true gamers games and this is top 3. Ask someone if they beaten Dark Souls/Demon Souls if they say no then they are not a true gamer period.

Take as much time as you need NamcoBandai. We all want the best quality for this game. Good things comes to those who wait. I'm still having fun with Dark Souls. Then I take a break, then come back to die some more.  XD  And looking forward to die many more times in Dark Souls II.

I have a feeling this might get ported to the ps4 cause didn't they said the lead develpment would be on pc? and since porting the pc to the ps4 isn't that hard considering their architecture are roughly similar, here's hoping..

my ps3 got the yold last night, I was considering if it was worth buying another one if it doesn't get fixed, I think it'll be worth it to buy a new one it'll be at least 2 more years of great games like these before I hop on to next gen

DaS II will extend the life of the current generation consoles

actually thats a good thing. cuz they are trying to make a good and complex game. that requaires time.

dark souls team thinks correct. 5 version of a game means that game is just for money and waste of time.  we need more game studios like dark souls team

I hope they dont do next-gen versions(even though director said they wont do them at same time, but namco may force it) right away, releasing game in 5 different versions can cause major losses. In dark souls case, it would cause big losses. DkS doesnt have CoD audience namco, just remember that.

This is one of the few games I would buy on the release date. They took there time on it. That's usually a good thing with today's release it now and patch it later crap.

@Tkacz dark souls is easily the best action rpg game ever developed, anyone who disagrees either has not played it or just sucks at the game. If you suck at dark souls, then you simply are not going to enjoy the game. However if you are patient and good with learning curves and have skill then you will be good at the game eventually, and although at first you may not like the game by the time you beat final boss you will want to play it again. I agree with Tkacz, anyone who has not played this game is not a true gamer. Everyone should play this game, and complete it. It is the most rewarding experience one can imagine, it made me feel like a kid all over again.

@Tkacz now now, if they're true gamers they should have beaten the game lvl 1 starting gear (ENB's challenge)
You got a long way to go

@Tkacz That is such an ignorant point of view. And I'm saying that as someone who's beaten dark souls 2 times since starting it about 4 months ago.

@bethesdasuks

Where were you on Dark Souls release? The game needed a shit ton of patches to get rid of a ton of exploits and other issues.

And dear lord was the p2p online play terrible, still is even with the patch.

Demon's Souls at leasts had dedicated.

@magnumluis The precise date is 31/12/2013 at 23:59.

These last day of the year date means next year release, since no game comes out the LAST day of a year.

cheers

@magnumluis Gamestop will put a date like that up so that they can take reserves, even before they know a month for the release.

@Aaronp2k I feel like a better term to describe the type of gamer who plays dark souls a lot is "hardcore" gamer. It doesn't make any sense calling gamers true and untrue.  I always thought the term gamer was used to describe someone who plays games regardless of which ones they enjoy playing. It would make more sense to call someone a "true" or "untrue" Dark Souls player.

@xtraflossy @Shadeslinger04 i doubt it, From would want to do the next gen justice, so i dont think they would rush it out, while i would love it to be, i think it will still stay as current gen only. but we could wait for another spiritual successor, or even less likely another PS exclusive Demons Souls 2. Given that Sony Own the IP, it could be possible for them to be developing one for the PS4. especially since Hidetaka Miyazaki is not the producer for Dark Souls 2. anywho, we can dream =D

plaintomato

@xtraflossy Same. I'd buy it twice easy. But they'd be stupid to not release it early in the next gen if only because they'd introduce it to players who might not pick it up later when the market is flooded with an endless selection of iterative crap like they are used to buying.

I mean, I bought Perfect Dark Zero once. Why on earth would somebody buy that? Because there wasn't much else to buy.

xtraflossy
xtraflossy

@MajahretDiviera @xtraflossy @Shadeslinger04 well, dark souls 3 will definately be ps4- Id rather have it sooner then later, wait- erh- I'd buy it twice tho, and wouldn't care
