The first game officially announced as being in development for the current generation of consoles is nearly here. Digital Extremes' Dark Sector, originally revealed in April of 2004, finally has a retail release date.
D3Publisher of America today announced that it will be shipping Dark Sector to North American retailers on January 22. Built on the custom-made Evolution Engine, the third-person shooter attempts to immerse the player in a cinematic experience, forgoing things like a heads-up display to keep distractions at a minimum.
Dark Sector drops players into the role of a secret agent trying to unearth Cold War secrets in Eastern Europe. Along the way, the agent finds himself infected with a "technocyte virus" that grants him powers like the ability to grow a bladed disc weapon from his arm, but also threatens to take over his body entirely.

I hope it runs just as good on both systems.
It looked really great at e3! :D
That's another one for 2008! Awesome!
The first concept was better but Im still excited for this game.
Wow.. Finally! Hope it turns out good!
thats a good date since jan is a slow month.
It looks decent. After all this time the game better be great.
Next year? Dammit! Oh well... I hope the wait is gonna be worth it. Looks awesome.
even tho the game has been thru some changes since first revealed, I'm still pretty excited about loppin some heads off with the element imbued predator weapon 8)
Cool, good to know
dude i want this game so bad....cant wait hopefully im happy..bioshock mass effect and halo would keep up till then im guessing
a lot of really good mature games are getting really moody and creepy, not bad, but a few games like Halo 3 and Fable might lighten the mood this year
This game is looking like BioShock to me it starts off really low on hype and all of a sudden you realize that it's one of the best games to come out in a long time, well hopefully anyway. I really like the ideas in this game their very original. Too bad my second semester starts right when this game comes out T_T.
I really like the feel and style of this game,I would like to see how it plays though, but it looks very good indeed.
I wasn't impressed by the gameplay demo. The AI seems really really bad and there's absolutely no need for strategy as the main character is a bullet sponge, which also makes the cover system useless as there's no need for it. You can throw the Krull'ish boomerang blade in fire or electricity to give it the attribute, which doesn't really matter since one regular blade throw will split an enemy in two. There's no need for guns as enemies can take a few hits and you never encounter more than one at a time, in which case you can just rush the enemy with the blade for an instant kill (but don't worry, the character can take bullets like the T-1000). And for some reason there seems to be countless square miles of uninhabited urban space that some CIA agent is running around. Nothing about this game makes sense or looks appealing. I think it'll be just another Vampire Rain dud; oh well, at least it's being ported. Anyhow, for those of you that fell in love with the original trailer will be disappointed. The game is no longer taking place in outer space, but on earth, in some Soviet controlled Eastern European country. If the original trailer is the reason you're so in love with this game then I understand; that first trailer made this game out to look really cool; but sadly, this vision is no more.
i've decided i'm just not allowed to comment on how good a game is going to be until halo comes out. if halo sucks, every game will be awesome! if it dosen't, then i dont' need to buy any other games, multiplayer forever! although this game looks like it good be a blood fest of a good time.
To bad it dosen't come to PC 2 i love it !
I think I'll wait until a little more info is released about this game....
No HUD? Interesting...
This game looks decent but I don't think I'll pick it up when it releases.
Maybe we will start get more detailed info on the game soon.
The trailers for this game haven't wowed me as yet. I hope we get our hands on a demo soon.
im glad it has a release date. i ve been looking forwarded to this for years
I am really looking forward to this game-it has a lot of potential. Let's hope it lives up to it...
The spinning glaive looks wicked.
it looks okay. I'm not as psyched about this game anymore.
After seeing some gameplay videos of it at E3, for some reason I get the impression that it needs more time. But I guess 4-5 months is a decent amount of time to work on it so I hope they can make it good.
this game looks SOOOO cool
