Dark Knight rises to top of UK Chart

Lego Batman 2 claims the top spot while new release Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor fails to chart.

by

Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes debuted last week, landing the top spot and beating its predecessor from 2008, which hit the charts at two. Batman knocked FIFA Soccer 12 down one from its Euro-fuelled peak, and Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier also dropped a single place to three.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor suffered from poor sales last week.

Max Payne 3 fell a further place last week, while Battlefield 3 held firm at five. Lollipop Chainsaw fell two places to six in its second week on the chart, while Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games continued its crawl up the chart as the event grows ever closer. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim saw a 15-place rise in anticipation of this week’s The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Dawnguard release, while Sniper Elite V2 filled out ninth place, and the dependable FIFA Street sneaked into the 10th spot.

Turning to last week’s new releases, Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings misses out on the top 10 by six places. The third installment in the Steel Battalion series, Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, is a notable absence from last week’s chart, missing out even on entry to the Xbox 360 top 40. Mass Effect 3 drops 17 places, a surprising change in light of its upcoming DLC.

Releasing this week is the vampiric Skyrim expansion, Dawnguard, and 2K’s latest shooter Spec Ops: The Line. The chart will also likely feature some more superhero antics from the movie tie-in The Amazing Spider-Man and more high-tech combat from the PC release of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

UK All-formats chart for week ending 23rd June:

1. Lego Batman 2: DC Superheroes
2. FIFA 12
3. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier
4. Max Payne 3
5. Battlefield 3
6. Lollipop Chainsaw
7. Mario & Sonic London 2012 Olympic Games
8. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
9. Sniper Elite V2
10. FIFA Street

And here's me for a second thinking they'd brought out a Dark Knight licensed game without me knowing it...

What?!? But gamespot only gave LEGO Batman 2 a 6.5?!?!

Serves you right for reviewing it so ineptly. Needs better combat, my ass.

No real surprise to see another great Lego game jump to the top of the charts!!

After looking at Angry Joe's playthrough of the Steel Battalion demo and how the Kinect controls did whatever the hell it wanted, no wonder it did so badly.

One more reason not to trust those reviews completely. Gaming sites give wrong judgement, cunsummers don't.

Not a surprise Steel Battalion isn't doing well.. it's a Kinect only game. Your limited your customers by being on one platform only. Your going to lose even more sales when your customer base also must own an accessory to play your game.

Ha, I bet GS just wrote this article for an excuse to use Dark Knight Rises in the title.  Clever GS.

As much as I want to play this, Steam STILL isn't letting anybody from Australia buy it.

All right! Our family will likely contribute two copies to it's totals, just not in the UK.

@nintendoboy16  Saw the vid also and was massively  disappointed. Out of the all the Kinect games out there steel battalion had the greatest potential to be Kinects first game that isnt a sports, dance, mini game collection. I am not looking forward to RYSE..
