Mythic Entertainment announced today that it has implemented player vs. player combat into the current beta build of its upcoming massively multiplayer role-playing game, Dark Age of Camelot. Dark Age of Camelot will be an online role-playing game like EverQuest or Asheron's Call that'll let players create characters and journey through a fully 3D online world, fighting monsters and gaining experience. However, the game will also feature three different fantasy realms that are loosely based on medieval European nations: the nation of Albion, which resembles ancient England; the nation of Midgard, which resembles ancient Norway; and the nation of Hibernia, which resembles ancient Ireland. Players will be able to create characters in each of the three realms, and they'll do battle with players from other realms to capture powerful artifacts and earn prestige by accumulating realm points from each battle.

At present, Dark Age of Camelot is in its third phase of closed beta testing, and two of the game's three nations, Albion and Midgard, have already been implemented. Mythic has announced that testers with characters of 15th level or higher may participate in the first run of player vs. player combat by seeking out special teleporters (which have been temporarily implemented for the sake of testing) to travel to a battlefield area. Victorious characters will earn realm points by defeating enemy characters.

Developer Mythic Entertainment will attend this year's E3 to show off the upcoming role-playing game. Dark Age of Camelot is scheduled for release later this year.
