Time to press that tunic and polish that coat of arms. Mythic Entertainment today announced that Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs has hit stores in North America. The expansion pack to the medieval massively multiplayer online role-playing game sends adventurers through romps in underground dungeons as they quest for treasure and prestige.

This fifth expansion for Dark Age of Camelot will overhaul the game's graphics, which haven't changed since 2002--gamers will be able to spice up characters with new sets of character models, skins, and clothing.

Additionally, five new races join the cast of playable characters. The church-renouncing heretic is a disciple of underworld lord Arawn and has a skill set that resembles a cleric's. The cloth-wearing warlocks can intertwine spells for devastating effects. Valkyries, an order of female warriors, use combat and magic together. Vampiirs can wield a piercing weapon in one hand and cast magic with the other. The wailing banshees are another all-female class that use sound as a means of magic.

Catacombs will also feature "instanced" areas for adventurers. These areas, while still part of the MMORPG, are spawned specifically for the quests of individual parties, meaning those parties can engage the same quest without fear of stumbling upon plundered treasure and corpses left by a high-level adventurer who entered the quest just before them.

Dark Age of Camelot: Catacombs is rated T and retails for $29.99. For more information, check out our previous coverage of Catacombs and the original Dark Age of Camelot.
