As part of its 2004 Gamers' Day, Konami announced it will be releasing a new addition to the Dance Dance Revolution series. According to company representatives, Dance Dance Revolution Extreme will arrive in stores this fall for the PlayStation 2. (ESRB Rating and price point are pending.)

Like its predecessors, DDRE will test gamers' dancing ability by having them execute dance steps on a mat connected to their Playstation 2. The game will sport several modes featured in earlier DDRs, including the popular "work out” mode which keeps track of the calories players burn and the super-competitive "oni mode,” which allows only four mistakes before elimination. However, the game will also include the all-new “mission mode” which challenges one or two players to progress through a series of levels by completing complicated dance-step combinations.

DDRE will also feature over 100 minutes of "chart-topping dance songs" recorded by "internationally acclaimed artists," none of which the company has named yet. The game will also include a series of music videos, also from to-be-revealed artists.
