Daily Downloads: BioShock, Neverwinter Nights 2

2K Boston's shooter gets opitimized for older video cards, while a new NWN2 single-player module and a patch for Guns of August also appear on GameSpot.

The gaming community has managed to release two separate modifications that bring Shader Model 2.0 support to Rapture, and they're both now available on GameSpot. Both are still in beta phase, but both are capable of making the game playable.

Asylum: A Corpse, A Vote--part two of the bizarre yet entertaining Asylum trilogy of modules for Obsidian's Neverwinter Nights 2--is ready to download, as is a patch for the game that fixes several minor bugs.

Rounding out the daily downloads is a patch for Guns of August, an updated client for Trickster Online, and a handful of fixes for Maximum Pool and 3D Ultra Cool Pool that let you play online in custom servers.

Actually MindlessTeef nvidias 6 series was the first graphics card with shader model 3.0, meanwhile ati didn't have it until 2 years later when its x1000 series came out, atis x800 series was shader model 2, and could not enable advanced effects in games like chaos theroy, no hdr in oblivion etc... at the time the shader model 3 was said by ati fanbois to be not necessary, well that turned out wrong! A lot of games require it , and the ones that don't look better with it on!

nothing too good here, although the shader model 2 patch might come in handy

"Is Shader Model 2.0 a downgrade?" It is indeed, the older graphics cards (like Nvidia's 6 series) use shader model 2.0. And this is why the PC is still the best gaming platform, it's not like Xbox360 fans could make a mod to get Bioshock to work on the first Xbox:)

Is Shader Model 2.0 a downgrade? I'm assuming it is, cuz Bioshock already looks incredible.

I heard a lot of complaints about the lack of shader 2.0 support. Good to see it addressed.

Good on the community for continuing to show what a little elbow grease can do.
