A custom-made PlayStation 4 is being auctioned off this week to support the Swedish Federation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Rights (RFSL). The system is called the "Gaystation edition," and the auction for the console has already eclipsed $2,000. The auction closes on August 2, so you can expect the price to climb even further. A standard PS4 sells for $400.

"For many young people, the world of games will become a refuge to escape the taunting or worse of real life," reads Webhallen's post about the console (translated by Joystiq via CVG). "On Webhallen, we are gamers in heart and mind, and are keen that as many as possible have the opportunity to feel welcome and enjoy the world's largest and fastest growing interest: video games."

Webhallen accompanied the post with the hashtag "thisisforthegaymers."

The second annual LGBT-themed GaymerX convention was held earlier this month in San Francisco, featuring a number of panels and presentations, including one from Borderlands creator Gearbox Software about inclusivity in gaming. Despite growing support from big-name publishers like 2K Games and Electronic Arts, this year's show might have been the last.
