Crysis 3 preorders get original Crysis

Free digital copy of 2007 shooter included for those who reserve Crytek's new game; all preorders upgraded to Hunter Edition.

Crytek is looking to its past for a preorder bonus for next year's Crysis 3. Publisher Electronic Arts announced today that those who reserve Crysis 3 will receive a code to download a free digital version of the 2007 original Crysis.

Gamers who preorder Crysis 3 for Xbox 360 will receive a code to download the Xbox Live Arcade version of Crysis, with PlayStation 3 players receiving the PlayStation Network iteration, and PC gamers getting a code to download the game through Origin.

Crysis currently retails for $20 on Xbox Live, PSN, and Origin.

Players who preorder Crysis 3 will not only receive the original Crysis, but will also be upgraded to the Crysis 3 Hunter Edition. This upgrade gives players day-one access to the game's new Predator bow weapon, as well as the Hunter Nanosuit module.

Crysis 3 is due February 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.

the pc original crysis way better than the one released to the console, the console version don't even let you normal sprint.

Why would they include crysis 1 especially on PC when I can gaurantee  it blows away whatever crysis 3 tries to accomplish graphically.  Better physics, graphics, Proper open world, better explosions...what a fail

Normally that would be a really cool pre order bonus, of course that is if I didn't already buy it off of Xbox Live a few months ago. So, umm... another bonus will be better.

Meh, I just picked up Crysis 1 and 2 on Steam for like $15 this summer, so I'll wait another couple of years and bag Crysis 3 for the same.

I will still wait for the PC version. Modded Crysis = the only Crysis.

I'm not touching this until I see spoilers for the story. I'm still trying to figure out how we went from flying super suits that wanted more energy to reddish bipedal things that want to cannibalize humans.

Bought Crysis 1 twice already, both 360 and PC. Totally worth it though, had a lot of fun with both versions.

They should do a console port of Warhead, seems weird that they haven't yet. Would be nice if they did it soon, since Psycho will be a character in Crysis 3 and most console Crysis players probably aren't familiar with him.

Joeguy00

Wouldn't a choice of whatever EA owned game you want from $20 or less be a better idea? Who is that hurting if its your own game? Most people would have played it by now or picked it up on a Steam sale for a fiver and still have it on a to-play list.

NTM23

I think if you haven't played the original Crysis by now, either on PC, or console, you probably don't care to play it. The console version is fine, but it's far worse in the aspects that count than the PC version if you can get that to run well, although the PC version has it's separate set of ugly bugs here and there, though that's one of the only things that hinders the experience. Furthermore, on PC, you can get Warhead and it's multiplayer Crysis Wars with the Crysis Maximum Edition for cheap.

If you haven;t tried it go back and play he Crysis original game with todays High end Video cards that push the FPS to heavenly highs at max setting that make the game play and look the way it was intended. The newer games for pc & console clones look like crap, the original Crysis ( Even the original Far Cry looks great ) has no console codes to screw around with the graphic's and looks so much better than the newer crysis 2. I'm so Tired of the cookie cuting games they maken to please the player ( which dosen't take much to do it seems ) with the way out dated console hardware..

SDBusDriver1979

Download code through Origin, nope. I'm going to avoid that service as long as possible. Sorry Crytek but I will not be buying your game this time around even after enjoying Crysis 2 a lot more than I should have.

I already own original Crysis but putting down 5$ as a pre-order won't hurt me in any way.

The bow does look fun to use.

Forgot about Crysis, then I thought I should see if it's worth getting.... Then I remembered it has an EA logo on it and that origins will be involved, then I didn't care about Crysis anymore.

the_bi99man
the_bi99man

@nintendians That's because they had to remake the game in the new cryengine 3 (which is more advanced technically, but scaled back for the consoles better), so they also gave it the crysis 2 style nanosuit controls. Pretty weak, indeed.

Monaro213
Monaro213

@DemannameD 2, technically. I don't get why people are so negative about upcoming games. From what I've seen, the game looks phenomenal. And now that you're getting Crysis 2 (through Origin, at least), in addition to a crap-ton of other stuff, I don't really see much to complain about. Best $100 I ever spent on Origin.

Monaro213
Monaro213

@xeon_hl2 Origin's not too bad... I'd go through steam if that option was available, but it isn't, so Origin it is. Don't understand the stigma at all: people are missing out on some fantastic opportunities.

Monaro213
Monaro213

@1q3er5 Crysis 3 looks better than Crysis... Have you not seen the tech demo and/or the other demos? In alpha, Cryengine 3 looks superior to Crysis in just about every way...Why is everyone so sour about Crysis 3! It *should* be fine! It's Crytek we're talking about here, not Danger Close or some other get-rich-quick developer...

Monaro213
Monaro213

@ghstbstr You get Crysis 2 (Maximum Edition) now, as well as a tonne of Crysis 3 DLC and other bonuses and a soundtrack... for PC at least, might have to have a look at what they're doing for XBox, but you should at least get the DLC and Crysis 2

 @GONtheSKYLORD  @SDBusDriver1979

Its not dumb logic at all...

Its standing up and being a customer that doesn't get suckered into a bad deal and a bad service that is Origin.

Steam has both Crysis 1 and 2, and several times this year both have gone sale, for as low as $5.

After seeing just how bad BF3 is with battlelog (the game is fine), but the underlying service of origin and battlelog to play the game is simply not worth supporting.

I'd rather send EA a message by not caving in to their mandatory origin client by not buying Crysis 3 unless it provides me an option to use the client of my choice or no drm restriction at all (but the latter is very unlikely with the digital distribution and piracy).

SDBusDriver1979
SDBusDriver1979

@YoungCardinal  @GONtheSKYLORD I simply do not want to give EA any of my information, and I shouldn't have to just to play online. I already have Steam installed why do I need another program to run a side to it and this is a long side with the usual EA shenanigans. I simply do not trust them with my information. I will not pirate Crysis 3, I simply will not play it as there are plenty of FPS competition and this is one of those times I am voting with my dollar.
