Creative Technology Ltd., the maker of the Sound Blaster suite of products, announced financial results for its fourth quarter and fiscal year, both ending June 30, 1998.

Sales for the fourth quarter of the company's fiscal year 1998 were US$253 million, compared with a fourth-quarter 1997 sales figure of $280.1 million. For the fiscal year 1998, sales were $1.234 billion, compared with $1.233 billion for fiscal year 1997.

Net income for the quarter was $13.1 million, compared with $44.4 million for the same quarter last year. Creative Technology stockholders earned 14 cents per share for the quarter, as opposed to 48 cents per share for the same quarter in 1997.

For the fiscal year, net income was $184.9 million, a record for the company. The company's income for fiscal year 1997 was $160.2 million.
