Create your own deathmatches and races in GTA Online this week

Rockstar Games to release content creation tools as early as tomorrow via free update on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

by

Beginning this week, GTA Online players will be able to create their own content for the online mode through the Deathmatch & Race Creators beta, Rockstar Games announced today. Users will also be able to play content others have developed using platform.

Included with the content creator are "some" of the same tools that Rockstar's own developers use, which gamers can use to create their own Deathmatches and Races. The content will be delivered via a free title update on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network as early as tomorrow, December 10.

Once created, you'll be able to publish these via the Rockstar Games Social Club for the community at large to download, play, rate, and share. At launch, players will be able to create and customize Deathmatches, Team Deathmatches, Races, GTA Races, and Rally Races.

Rockstar said it plans to "regularly" review community-created content, distinguishing the best creations as "Rockstar Verified Jobs." These will be shared out to the entire GTA Online community, the developer said. Players will need to have a Social Club account linked to their Xbox Live Gamertag or PlayStation Network ID to use the tools.

Later in December, Rockstar will release a new game mode for GTA Online called Capture. A "GTA twist" on the classic capture the flag mode, Capture sees four squads battling it out to steal items from their opponents' bases. This mode features four variations: Raid, Contend, Hold, and GTA. Full details for each of these is expected next week.

Rockstar also announced today that new Grand Theft Auto V story DLC is in development for release in 2014. This content will extend the stories of main characters Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, though no other details were specified. GTAV generated $1 billion in the three days after launch and has shipped 29 million copies to date.

I hate racing in games, probably cause I suck at it.

I really don't like all these missions and instanced things.  I want to be in an online living breathing world so to speak.  Much of what you can do in GTA Online breaks that, it takes you completely out of that world.  I understand the supposed need for instanced things, but I feel like they should have worked on other ways to do it that would have really made it stand out from how online game worlds usually work.  I want stuff happening in, I guess what people might call a more "organic" way, not launching through menus and such.

Outside of those instanced activities, all there really seems to be to do is run around, encounter other players and kill them or be killed by them.  I wish they had built some good mechanics for conveying hostility or a lack of it to other players.  There are some ways I guess, but not really a system for it.

I hardly see anyone on there playing deathmatches when I'm on there. I see more players doing heists than that.

Wait...its a beta? Its not even a fully finished update?

I'm all hope with this online section of the game. It was great fun at first and they promised all this stuff but have so far delivered on none of it. We won't even be getting heists until 2014 now. They also barely give any feedback on what they're doing. Its normally their thing but for something like this where they have promised things to be released and don't, people don't like being kept in the dark.

@wasakawaka I am THE WORST at driving in GTA. I can bomb it across a whole desert with nothing around for miles, and still crash into a pylon. I hate GTA driving missions.

They said eventually they want to give players the ability to create any/all game types that are already present.

Did they promise Heists this year? wouldn't anything they release for the Online part of the game be "Beta"?

@mattcake Lol. This isn't 1999 anymore. In 2000 and beyond, if you want to make a mod for a game, be a game developer and sell it or GTFO.

VenkmanPHD
VenkmanPHD

No, they are releasing it bit by bit because it is on a whole other development schedule than GTA V was. This is essentially how it was always going to be.

@bouff They promised Heists in the trailer, they sold their game on the premise that we could plan heists with our friends and screw them when we saw fit.

Here we are no heists

@conorhat @mattcake Uhhhhhh what?? Are you really hating on modders?? People who make content for us PC gamers for free for no other reason than to watch our joy when we use their mods. And your hating on them...... Now you see why PC elitists hate consolers so mcuh

Or wait until the PC version comes out where this will be entirely possible.
