Clearly, the source material is ripe with gaming possibilities.

Tater tots, ligers, unicorns, and the painfully awkward misadventures of a social outcast may not be as commonly seen in games as nitro boosts, assault rifles, and fatalities, but Crave Entertainment is doing its part to change that. Today the publisher announced that it will release the first games based on the 2004 cult hit film Napoleon Dynamite.

Very little is known about the project so far, as Crave only said it would feature a wealth of familiar faces, including Napoleon himself, Kip, Uncle Rico, Pedro, and Tina (the llama). The publisher did not give a release window for either game.

Napoleon Dynamite was director Jared Hess' feature film debut, but it is not the first of his efforts to be translated into a game. His follow-up to Napoleon Dynamite, 2006's Nacho Libre spawned a Nintendo DS game that was released last October.
