GameSpot can now confirm that Universal Interactive Studios is currently developing Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex and the next-generation Spyro the Dragon game for the Nintendo GameCube. As reported previously, the upcoming games are also being developed for the Sony PlayStation 2, the Microsoft Xbox, and the Nintendo Game Boy Advance. This most recent Crash Bandicoot game pits Crash and his sister Cocoa against the evil team of Cortex and Uka Uka. The game's developer, Traveller's Tales, plans to stay true to the traditional Crash gameplay system. Players will have most of Crash's signature moves and several new attacks at their disposal, and as is traditional with previous Crash Bandicoot games, this latest game will have new vehicles, including a jeep and a mech, among others. Little gameplay information is currently known about the next-generation Spyro the Dragon, but it has been confirmed that the game will be in its traditional platformer genre.

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex will be released this November. The next Spyro the Dragon game is currently planned for a spring 2002 release. Universal Interactive could not comment on the status of those games as it relates to the GameCube.
