Cooking Mama 4 spicing up 3DS this fall

New installment in Majesco's minigame compilation franchise out later this year; Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures for DS also coming.

Majesco characterized its Cooking Mama franchise as "alive and well" as part of its most recent earnings report in March, having sold more than 8.5 million units in North America alone. Today, the publisher announced an all-new installment in its flagship kitchen-magic series and a camping-oriented spin-off, both of which are coming for Nintendo handhelds this fall.

Cooking Mama will be heading back to the kitchen this fall.

Cooking Mama 4: Kitchen Magic is expected to arrive for the 3DS. Culinary minigames are once again served up du jour, as players work their way through more than 200 challenges and 60 recipes. The 3DS's touch screen will factor heavily into gameplay, and the system's gyroscope will factor into tasks that range from cracking eggs and flipping pans to balancing plates.

Nintendo's workhorse DS will also see a new installment in the franchise, Camping Mama: Outdoor Adventures. Also a minigame compilation, Outdoor Adventures offers 100 touch-screen-enabled challenges, which includes crafting a fishing pole and using it to roast a fish, as well as capturing wild chickens or exotic insects. The game includes 38 different levels that span such environments as forests, mountains, and seas.

Majesco also said that it plans to launch three additional cross-platform titles based in the Cooking Mama franchise in 2012. Additional details on these titles were not revealed.

I continue my love and support for cooking games. A love that started with an obscure Japanese import title Ore no Ryouri which I played on my modded PS2. An iron pan in the face for the haters of cooking games.

It was a good game when it first arrived because it showed off the features of the DS but these days it just wont hold up

They are oddly addicting for awhile. Hiking Mama just sounds odd though.

Cooking Mama was mediocre at best for me. It got repetitive real fast, which is a shame because it had potential to get a lot more in depth. I loved the game Order Up for the Wii though. I would love to just play a port of Order Up on the DS If anyone is listening.

"Majesco also said that it plans to launch three additional cross-platform titles based in the Cooking Mama franchise in 2012. Additional details on these titles were not revealed." Considering that the games are not that dependent of graphics, I see a new Project Cafe game on the rise. I may not be a fan of the series, but others obviously are. No problem with that in my book.

@ale_gamr Maybe but game sucks anyway, nothing has been released to prove CM is worth our time and money...not even 3d.

Maybe this time it'll be more varied than just "Spin the circle with your stylus until you reach the green area" and "Cut the dotted line in under 20 seconds".

@ advocacy Actually, the apocalypse has been delayed to October of this year, so if Cooking Mama is late on its 3rd quarter projections, we might not get it. That makes me a sad panda :(.

Aren't you glad the apocalypse didn't happen so that we could enjoy another Cooking Mama game?
