Consolers to See Red

The PlayStation is about to get the PC Command & Conquer add-ons.

Comments

Wednesday, Westwood stopped by with Retaliation, the newest addition to the C&C family. The console title is a port of PC C&C add-ons Counterstrike and Aftermath. Videogames.com had the title on loan for the afternoon, took as many screenshots and movies as time would allow, and played through a couple of missions. Here are our first impressions of the title.

All the missions have been ported - giant ant missions included. The general plan is the same - you are assigned missions (whose names range from "Absolute M.A.D.ness" and "Let's Make a Steal" to "Monster Tank Madness"), and you've got some new units to manage - among them the popular tesla tanks and M.A.D. tanks from Aftermath. Control is essentially the same as it was in Red Alert, and most gamers will still find the PlayStation mouse easier to use, although gamepad control is far from difficult.

We'll be continuing our talks with Westwood about the game and will keep readers posted on the details.

In the meantime, check out the following exclusive screenshots and movie.
