Conduit for 3DS in production - Report

High Voltage Software bringing series to Nintendo's new handheld; build currently "runs pretty darn well with full 3D and everything."

High Voltage Software's Conduit 2 will be released--after a handful of delays--on April 19 exclusively on the Wii. Though the shooter is not on the market yet, the developer is already planning its future…on the 3DS.

Conduit 2 on the Wii, not playable in 3D.

High Voltage's chief creative officer, Eric Nofsinger, told Eurogamer, "Now that we're winding things down [on Conduit 2], a lot of our resources are on pulling this technology over to 3DS."

"We've got environments from this already up and running around. You can shoot, you can select different weapons, and you can see enemies," he said. "It runs pretty darn well with full 3D and everything."

High Voltage is currently looking for a publishing partner for the Conduit 3DS title, which is still in an early phase of development. These efforts come as the studio continues to wrap up the Conduit 2 and after High Voltage laid off 25 employees over the summer.

"I would guess that Sega will be interested," Nofsinger said. "I had a nice conversation just yesterday with their head of artist and repertoire. At DICE, the conference in Vegas that's coming up, we'll probably have some more chats."

The Nintendo 3DS will launch in Europe on March 25 and in North America on March 27, priced at $250. For more on the studio's most recent effort, check out GameSpot's preview of Conduit 2.

I'd love to see a company other than Activison put a decent FPS on a DS. Don't get me wrong, COD on the DS is surprisingly good, but I'd love to diversify.

High Voltage seems to be in over it's head, not really sure if I can rely on this company to produce a good game on the 3DS if they can barely manage on the Wii.

guys I wouldnt count this game out one cuz they other one had potential to be a good game. two this game has been getting an overhaul to be wat it should have been and early games in a franchise have sucked b4 such red steel the second one was good killzone 1 was bad and even the dominate franchise gta the first two games were crap so Id say I would give this game another shot and not right it off just yet

The Conduit sucked. I gave it a chance and it was terrible. Horrible generic single player and laggy glitchy online. I can't see why this franchise is still pushing forward. Failure.

You better make sure that Conduit 2 sales are higher than the somewhat lackluster original before you start planning another one.

@chesed ROFL "Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?" Don't know why so many thumbs down, his comment is hidden now. It takes talent to pull of such gibberish. Just read it out loud to fully appreciate it.

Actually I just thought what we need is a Metroid that explains Samus's start.Other M sorta let me down story wise. The big "surprise" about it was that Samus worked for the Federation. Big whoop. I wanna see her origins, see the Chozo, see the very first time Samus wore the Power Suit and saved the universe. We also need a 3D portable Conduit.

@ Xplode_77 Yeah, who can hate Metroid? I REALLY want to see Retro make a post Fusion 3D game,of course,2D will work just as good. Give us Metroid!

I liked the first Conduit but I sold it about a year after I got it so I could get an Xbox 360. This game might make me go out and get it and use my Wii for the first time in awhile.

@lancea34 I don't think the second will fail, but even if it doesn't sell a single copy HVS won't have a "dark future". They've been making games for almost 2 decades now, one game won't break them. Although this game'll probably sell very well, seeing as it's pretty much to the first Conduit what Halo 2 was to the first Halo. Which isn't saying much, seeing how cr@ppy the first Halo looks vs. the second one.

@Wormkid_64 Metroid games are fantastic! Although I wasn't a fan of the Hunters single player. I don't care if they make a squeal, as long as they can come up with more interesting boss fights and better puzzles. But I'm still hoping they make a new 2D Adventure ;)

Wormkid_64

@ Xplode_77 @ yoyou225 I don't care if it's Fusion style 2D,or Prime style 3D,I just want a new Metroid.I really want it on 3DS,but if it's Wii,I'll still be all over it.

Xplode_77

@yoyou225 If there is a new Metroid coming to 3DS, it better be 2D adventure.

yoyou225

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm just saying I would rayher a new Metroid to come out on the 3DS more than this.

There was no indication whatsoever this is a Conduit game. He didn't even mention the word "Conduit" once! This is just GameSpot jumping to conclusions. ** Not that I don't want the game; the first one was IMO a good, if not great game, and the second looks to be that "great" game. Better than the first Halo, with its repetitive environments. :P

sega/nintendo are trying to turn conduit into a decent IP. the first game was a "B" FPS for wii, and im sure they are improving the sequel. It might be just another FPS, but Halo 1 wasnt that great compared to Halo 2....

FPS1337

cool, nice to see a FPS come onto the 3ds and the conduit looks very nice graphically. The Conduit 2 looks great so this is a plus.

The Conduit was meh.. I bought it the day it release.. But i don't blame high voltage for the poor game, it just seems like a project as ambitious as The Conduit wouldn't pan out on the WII.. Maybe now #2 will be ok after people have figured out how to get the most out of the system; i won't know because i sold my WII.. Resident Evil 4 is one of my favorite games of all times, it's beyond me why no other WII developer has really recycled/cloned a 3rd person shooter that plays out like RE4 does..

The Conduit was good, while The Conduit 2 is looking to be great. I really like the mystique and world of the series so I hope they continually get better and the franchise becomes a 3rd party must own for Nintendo systems. Consider me interested in this new entry for the 3DS.

Conduit was pretty impressive and I do hope some promise to the sequel. But on the 3DS will be very interesting. Besides Metal Gear Solid 3D, Conduit 2 would be awesome to have on the 3DS.

Sony and Nintendo really need to stop wasting their resources on these handhelds and focus on their consoles and their software. The only thing we really need from them is a smartphone with physical buttons to play games to kill time, which Sony failed to produce. The iPhone has them beat. This is the equivalent of watching "Avatar" on your phone.

Nintendo the masters of recycled content.I have never seen a company that can recycle old content like this company can and have success while doing it lol.I just hope they have alot of new stuff planned for the 3DS because all I have seen is games that have already been released and I am not a Nintendo hater.I just thought it was funny how many times they re-release old games.
