Commandos demo invades GameSpot

Single-player sampling of Eidos' first-person shooter and stealth hybrid now available for download from GameSpot.

Commandos Strike Force, the next game in the long-running Commandos franchise, is straying from the series' battle plan. Instead of using the normal real-time strategy gameplay the Commandos games are known for, Strike Force will take a first-person perspective and combine shooter and stealth elements.

Is this new direction good for the franchise? Gamers can decide on their own now, as GameSpot has the Commandos Strike Force PC demo available for download. The single-player demo will feature two levels: one spy-based training level that gives the lowdown on sneaking and stealth, and a two-commando mission that lets gamers switch between a Green Beret and a sniper on the fly.

Longtime Commandos developer Pyro Studios, a company from Madrid, Spain, once again handles the game's development. The shooter will be released for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and the PC on April 4.

Commandos Strike Force is rated T for Teen and will retail for $39.99 on consoles and $29.99 on the PC.
