Comic-Con 2014: Guardians of the Galaxy Characters Confirmed For Disney Infinity

To coincide with this week's San Diego Comic-Con and the upcoming release of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie, Disney confirmed the next slate of characters for Infinity.

Two of the stars of the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy film (Rocket Raccoon and Groot) were teased in a previous Disney Infinity character reveal trailer, but today Disney Interactive made it official: Guardians of the Galaxy is getting its own playset for Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes.

According to a press release from Disney, the full set of playable characters will include:

  • Star-Lord
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Drax
  • Gamora
  • Groot

Like previous Disney Infinity characters, they'll also be playable in the game's Toy Box 2.0 mode.

Also from the press release, here are the descriptions for the Guardians themed Power Discs:

Space Armor - Unlock Gamora's out of this world Space Armor costume for added protection against enemies. Who says fashion can't be functional too?

Marvel Team-Up: Yondu - Fight alongside this powerful, arrow shooting ally and send enemies running for their lives.

Groot's Roots - Theme out your Toy Box world with Groot's Roots. It's sure to grow on you!

Groot's View - Embrace your inner green thumb and theme Toy Box skies out Groot-style.

Star-Lord's Galaxy - Turn your Toy Box into Knowhere - Star-Lord’s home base in the Galaxy.

The Rip - Turn Toy Box skies into the skies of Knowhere with this Power Disc and transport yourself to the outer edge of all space and time.

The release date is set for sometime this Fall, and Disney also teased that there would be more character reveals coming during this week's SDCC.

In a related announcement, Disney also revealed a PlayStation exclusive collector's edition bundle (seen above), which will include the Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack, all Avengers figures, and the Frost Beast Collector's Edition display. Pre-orders are starting sometime soon to coincide with SDCC.

Well, anyone not living under a rock saw that coming from miles away.

Why does Gamora look like a human, and even worse, like a Barbie In Space character? She's supposed to be a *green*, mean, killing machine.

Of course they will.  They are going to milk Marvel and Star Wars in ways no one could ever dream.

I have no interest in the game but I WILL own that Rocket Raccoon figure.

It still bums me out that Disney bought Marvel. They've essentially cornered the market on my childhood.

Definitely going to go see Guardians of the Galaxy on day one only because Rocket Raccoon is in it.

@EasyComeEasyGo I'm only going to see it because this old song (Hooked on Feeling) by this old Swedish band (Blue Swede, with our own Björn Skifs) was featured in the trailer, youtube.com/watch?v=SPyNqXTx2FQ.

No, not really, but it is really cool that they chose that song. The movie seems very fun and entertaining, that's why I'm going to see it.
