We take a brief peek at 2K Games' college basketballer for the Xbox 360.

During our E3 appointment at 2K Games, we were treated to a very brief look at College Hoops 2K6 for the Xbox 360. And when we say brief, we mean really brief. About all we got to see running on an Xbox 360 dev kit was the tip-off from a Georgia Tech versus UConn game and the very first possession. From what we saw and were told, the game will use the same technology and engine as NBA 2K6 for the 360. The player models look quite detailed, and the fully 3D crowd looked fantastic as well.

As far as features go, 2K Games representatives noted the success of College Hoops 2K5 and how they intend to build on that momentum by working on closely modeling the way each team plays, in addition to modeling each team's real-life tendencies. So you can expect schools that traditionally play a more uptempo game will try to play faster, while those that use more clock will do that as well. The developers are also paying close attention to the types of defenses each school plays and how often each tries to press. Hopefully, this will make for a gameplay experience that's as varied as the real-life game of college basketball.

Like NBA 2K6, College Hoops 2K6 is slated for a holiday 2005 release on the Xbox 360. Stay tuned to GameSpot Sports for more details on the game as information becomes available.
