In fact, the last PC rallying game I spent any sort of serious time with was 2000's criminally underappreciated Mobil 1 Rally Championship.

So while I was pleased when Colin McRae Rally 2005 for PC arrived at my desk, I was surprised by my feelings of discontent after I finished it up. Despite some upgraded sound and graphics (which look gorgeous by the way), the game is nearly identical to its console cousin. The game is solid both offline and online and should provide a good challenge for all gamers. Just like the console version.

And that seems to be the problem for me. The courses, modes, and challenge levels are virtually identical to that found on the console version of the game. While this isn't necessarily a bad thing; after all, I enjoyed Colin McRae Rally 2005 for Xbox and still think of it as one of the top driving games of the year, the PC version really doesn't do anything especially new. As such, it's a pretty tough sell to anyone who currently owns, or is considering owning, an Xbox.
