The upcoming game from veteran Gears of War developer Cliff Bleszinski and his studio BossKey Productions is not going to be a new entry in Bleszinski's 1990s side-scroller Jazz Jackrabbit series. Asked by a fan on Twitter if it would be, Bleszinski said, "Dude, [Epic Games] owns that. Wish people understood that."

Instead, Bleszinski said BossKey is working on something entirely new. "I'm making a whole new thing," he said in another tweet. Bleszinski said previously that he wants to redefine his legacy.

The landing page for BossKey's recently launched website includes a link to a Twitter page for something called "Bluestreak." This could be the name, or at least the working title, for Bleszinski's upcoming game. We're likely to find out lots more details about Bleszinski's new game and studio tomorrow, July 8, at around 12 noon EDT. That's when the countdown clock Bleszinski launched last week will strike zero.

Here's some other details about Bleszinski's new project gleaned from Twitter posts.

Bleszinski quit Epic Games in October 2012 after more than two decades with the company.
