Unlike previous hosts of NBC's Late Night, Jimmy Fallon has embraced technology and gaming wholeheartedly. He has had Brutal Legend creator Tim Schafer on as a guest and even brought Kudo Tsunoda on to demonstrate Microsoft's motion-sensing system, Project Natal.

Calm down, big fella! Bleszinski's announcement is just a week away.

Given its history, it's not that surprising that Fallon's show is being used as the venue for a major game announcement. Last night, Fallon Twittered the following: "Game designer Cliff Bleszinski (@therealcliffyb) debuts his new game on Late Night next Thur. Set your TiVos! And your Xboxes."

What could the game be? The obvious suspect is Gears of War 3, which has not been officially announced but has been heavily hinted at. As of May 2009, its predecessor had sold over 5 million copies worldwide, and the second chapter's ending laid the foundation for a follow-up.

A fainter possibility is that Bleszinski will unveil the still-unnamed game from Epic's Polish subsidiary People Can Fly, which he is offering creative input on. Electronic Arts recently slated the game to ship during the first quarter of 2011, but little has been heard about the project since EA Partners announced a publishing deal with Epic in 2008. People Can Fly's previous work includes the horror first-person shooter Painkiller, but Bleszinski has explicitly said his next title would not be a horror game.
